♥ ♥ ♥ First a HUGE Shout-Out to the wonderful, delightful, awesome @piratecaptainmo for giving me permission to host this swap. She hosted the same swap in her group (Bug and Mo's Art Guild) except ran it as ATC's. It was a lot of fun. I think it will be awesome as a handmade postcard. ♥ ♥ ♥

This is a super fun and easy swap, that yields amazing results when done properly. So for all you "I just can't draw" people...this swaps right up your alley.

The ONLY materials allowed in this swap are:

  • Medium & Wide Point Sharpie Markers or high quality similar markers...(do NOT use a cheap imitation because the results will not be the same).

  • Sturdy White Cardstock for the postcard base. The postcard should be at least 3 x 5 in but no bigger than 4 x 6 in.

  • Begin by choosing a dark colored sharpie (black works best) to make a series of loops and lines on your cardstock postcard. The goal is to create a lot of different spaces, there is no right or wrong.

  • Next choose any color sharpie and begin coloring in some of the spaces. When you are satisfied, repeat with another color, continue this process until all of the spaces are colored in.

  • The goal is to make a design with at least 5 different colors and have none of the same colors touching. However; this is abstract art and the end results is ultimately yours.

REQUIREMENTS

  • No sloppy coloring. Stay in the lines and color all white areas.

  • Sender's Choice...You can not rate down if you receive a postcard with a color on it that you are "deathly allergic too".

  • These are to be sent "NAKED". Write something about your hometown on the back of the postcard. Make it meaningful...more than 1 or 2 generic lines.

  • Include Group/Swap/User Name on Back

  • Mail On Time...if you encounter a problem communicate with your partner (and me).

  • Remember to always rate...and never bully or demand ♥s that is totally against SB rules.

The ATC's in the picture are the one's I did for @piratecaptainmo s swap. But remember this is for a Postcard NOT ATC. I just used that to give you an idea of what the PC should look like

So does "Naked" mean we are actually writing on the postcard itself and sending it through the mail with a stamp on it as opposed to putting it in an envelope? Am I understanding that correctly.

Naked = Not in an envelope (no clothes on so naked LOL) You will send it through the mail with a message.

In this case the message will be something about your home town. :)

What paper are you using and not get bleed through? I've tried 140# watercolor, Bristol, 110# Index. All bleed through to some extent I have full sheet sticker paper, and thinking of sticking that on the mailing side, but if it goes international- I don't want to compromise the quality by making it two layers and risk it getting wet in transit and possibly seperating. I'm thinking of getting like a pad of mixed media stock, to see if that will prevent bleed through. On the other hand- I'm now completely addicted this this... and have like a dozen pieces already. lol

It shouldn't bleed through on card stock. If it does I'd say you're probably not using thick enough card to send as a postcard through the mail (or as an ATC for that matter) two layers should be fine if you use decent glue-think of stamps-they are glued on and usually don't fall of your mail right?

@TurtleSoup76 I am sorry I just saw this. @AussieCass is right, if it bleeds through then the card stock your using must not be thick enough. I have had no problem with anything bleeding through. But Usually add a layer of backing to mine after I finish just out of pure habit. But I never had a bleed through problem.

But you are more than welcomed to add something over the back to cover it is you would like to.

Oh and thank you @AussieCass ..I enjoyed the ATC's very much and yes, they were quite addicting and I don't even swap ATCs. LOL

Actually- the stocks I listed are thick cover stocks heavy enough to mail or mount for ATCs. But I think maybe the type of stock I'm using is too absorbent,not ideal for this project, hence the bleed thru (albeit minimal and probably exacerbated by a heavy hand) lol! One is great because it's practically streakless! Either way... back to the drawing board! er... paper... lol

"Cover" stock is different than "card" stock, even though they may look the same and the terms are often used interchangeably. Cover stock is often more absorbent than card stock. You may even find that ink will bleed on the right side of it. I found this out when I bought cover stock by mistake a few years ago. DH enlightened me. (";)

Noting this for records sake - @jennannasaurus flaked on this swap. (as well as on another one) and now has 2 "1" ratings. I have sent an angel PC to her partner.
