This is a very easy, uncomplicated ATC swap for people who want to learn how to create artist trading cards.
Before you begin, it would be a good idea to read the thread about ATCs in the Newbie Helper group. It's here.
Start with a page from an adult coloring book, or a free page printed from the internet. See some links below. Do NOT use a child's coloring book page.
Because we will be starting with a large piece of paper, we are going to use that page to create 3 ATCs. One ATC each to three partners. Keep the rest of the page; if this swap is popular, I will repeat it.
Color your page, and then cut out your ATCs from it. Remember that ATCs must always be 2 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches (64mm x 89 mm). If you send a card that is not this size, you risk being rated a 3. Alternate option: Cut out your ATCs before coloring.
Use colored pencils, or markers, or crayons to do your coloring. No paints for this swap, please. Do your best, neatest work.
Remember that the design will end up being on a very small canvas, so a single large image might not work well once you cut it up to a smaller size. Look for all over designs like doodle art or flowers or zen designs.
Additional elements are optional, not required.
Add a sturdy backing, like heavy weight card stock or cardboard (cereal box weight).
Add some info to the back. At the very least, you should include your name and the date. Any additional info (contact info, your website, the title of the card, etc) is optional.
Congratulations! You have created an artist trading card!
Put your ATC in a protective plastic trading card sleeve or a small envelope, to protect it within your larger envelope for mailing.
Send ON TIME. This is one of the requirements of the swap and your partner can rate you a 3 if you send late.
When you receive an ATC, rate your partner promptly and accurately. If she followed all the above guidelines, she earned a 5 rating.
Communicate with your partner and me, the swap host, if you have problems.
Experienced ATC artists, please note: If you join this swap, you may be paired with someone much less experienced.
