Description:

This swap has 2 parts to it. You'll be REQUIRED to swap in the first part, but you're going to WANT to show off for the second;)

Part 1: Swap 1 oz of fiber with your partner. You'll have plenty of time to buy it or pull it out of your stash. You're going to want some for you and most fibers sold are more than 1 oz (and 1oz is quite a bit...) I usually see batts or roving in 4oz increments. Look on Etsy... and then proceed to drool... lol. (THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL RATE ON.)

NOTE: Fiber colors are sender's choice. Also, fibers are sender's choice.

Part 2: Make your drop spindle or grab one you already have. Pinterest has pics/links for this... but here's a handy one.

It's super easy. Seriously. All at your hobby shop or maybe even in your house. You choose how you're going to spin this fiber you just got.

Part 3: Spin your fiber! (Once you learn to spin fine, lace weight, even yarn, you will never be able to do the crazy yarn you can make at the beginning of this journey... unless drunk (says my mum) AND there are people out there who re teach themselves to do crazy yarn.

Part 4: Email your partner pics of the fiber they sent that you spun into yarn!!! Be proud of it! (And if everyone wants, we can do an e-swap for this step so everyone can email everyone their pics of their yarn!!!)

Ok... so 4 steps... I want to go for a fifth after this and make something with the amazing hand spun yarn:)

If you're allergic to wool, I'm going to go ahead and say that this swap isn't for you... sorry but too much wool is hiding in all those fibers out there.

If you're clueless on the yarn, this is for you! If you don't think you can do it, I promise you can!

And chat me up all day about spinning;) ALSO: plenty of time to get your fiber, make your spindle (takes about an hour with gluing and everything,) spin it and etc... after I have fiber, these steps usually take me a few days if I'm spinning thread... We'll have a month. :)

Hugs!

I just bought this kit:

and I'm supper excited ...... craftsy has an online spindling class. I will send some wonderful other fibers - not the class study fibers.

Thanks for putting this up, Margo. I"M SO EXCITED! :D

No worries:) BTW. if anyone buys a batt, buy a SMOOTH batt. Spindling something chunky will make you want to kill someone.
