I hosted this swap last year, and it turned out to be one of my absolute favorites, so I've decided to bring it back again this year! For this swap we will be creating and mailing 24 envelopes with goodies tucked inside. Each envelope must be either handmade, or embellished. Please don't just slap a few stickers or random strips of washi tape and call it done, really be creative. Envelopes can be all one size, or different sizes. Envelopes can be made from paper bags, scrapbook paper, regular envelopes, or even hand sewn. Here are a few links to some beautifully made envies, and you can also do a google or Pintrest search for advent envelopes to get more ideas. http://www.running-w-scissors.com/2010/11/advent-calendar-envelopes.html http://thecreativeplace.blogspot.de/2011/11/diy-advent-envelope-mini-book.html http://www.homelife.com.au/how+to/how+to+make+an+envelope+advent+calendar+,20911 http://jillibeansoup.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/11/free-for-.html To get ideas to fill your envelopes for your partner, first check their profile for their likes and dislikes. If you still need a few ideas, here are some that come to mind: Stickers Washi tape samples wrapped around plastic playing cards Handmade gift tags Fiber, ribbon, or bakers twine samples If your partner makes ATC's how about tucking in ome you've made, some images, background papers, or cardstock blanks If your partner likes to read, maybe a bookmark, a list of books you love, a quick note about your favorite author, or maybe even a photocopy of a page from the book you are reading You could include a short letter to your partner in one envie Maybe a page from a a magazine with a great holiday decorating idea, or recipe A holiday themed puzzle The list is endless! There is no dollar amount assigned to this swap, but please put a lot of time and thought into what you make, and what you fill your envies with. Send only something that you would be DELIGHTED to receive. Handmade items and destash items are fine if your partner would like those type things but also include a few new store bought goodies. Envelopes can be single envies, or they can be bound into a book. The main key word here is CREATIVE! Be creative in the way you make or embellish your envies, and be creative in what you fill them with, so that you really wow your partner! Envies can be made ahead of time, then filled when partners are assigned. Please don't sign up for this swap if you can't mail on time...the whole point is for your partner to have it before December 1! Because of the cost of mailing, and the time factor in mailing internationally, I am going to make this a regional swap. If there is anyone interested in doing an international version, be my guest ;-) Questions? Shoot me a pm, or post below. I'll answer a pm much faster as I check those almost daily, but I will also eventually answer all questions posted below. Thanks, and I hope to see many creative minds joining! |
