(Last year 9hauntedgirls hosted a great swap for "short short stories," and I enjoyed it so much that she's given me the green light to host a similar swap. Thanks, 9hauntedgirls!) Some people call them short short stories, while other people call them pieces of flash fiction or microfiction. Some people see differences between these terms, but whatever you want to call them, they're crafted stories with a narrative arc and a few well-chosen words. And they're very (very!) fun to write and to read. For this swap you'll have 3 partners and you'll send each partner (by regular post, not email) 1 piece of very very short fiction, containing fewer than 100 words. Any topic, any writing style, any mode of presentation--as long as it's a story of some sort written by you and the word count is under 100! You can send the same story to all 3 partners or a different one to each; it's your choice. And if you write your story in a language other than English, that's fine--just please be sure to include an English translation unless you are certain that your partners can read your language of choice. Other details: 1) Unrated swappers are welcome. 2) Rated swappers with a rating below 4.95 will be dropped before partners are assigned. I may also drop swappers whose profile would cause concern; if there's something on your profile that you think might raise eyebrows, please PM me in advance. 3) This is an international swap! Don't be shy, don't be hesitant--this is a form that everyone can try their hand at and enjoy. Let your imagination wander, and then count your words! |
