Number of people in swap:62
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:February 24, 2007
Date items must be sent by:March 10, 2007
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

I will freely admit that I am a dollar store-aholic. You can find almost anything in a dollar store from practical household items to completely bizarre knickknacks.

For this swap you will have one swap partner and a spending limit of 10 dollars. In the comments post a couple of things you would like to receive from a dollar store and then leave the rest of the purchases up to your partner. You could receive something totally useful or something outrageously weird. Just remember to have fun with this swap and be sure to not send anything that may offend your partner! Also, do not forget to check out your partners profile to see what type of things they are interested in before you go shopping!

RULES OF THIS SWAP

This is a USA ONLY swap! This is to save on the cost for shipping for everyone who chooses to participate.

Due to the vast amount of requests for an International version of this swap I have started one at the URL below...

http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/2151

Newbies are welcome but please DO NOT join if you have no intentions of sending!
Also, you MUST have a completed profile! I will be checking and banning anyone who doesn't!

You MUST NOT have more than TWO (2) no sends or you will be banned from this swap! I want to make sure everyone gets their packages. No one likes being left out, let alone people who take a great deal of time and money to put together their packages, only to get nothing back in return!

Just remember this... karma is not a type of gooey filling in chocolate!

Happy swapping everyone!

simplysarah 02/ 7/2007 #

I was so gonna make a swap last night and call it "whatya get for your money" well im glad that you did!!! this should be fun....

user5526 02/ 8/2007 #

I'd love an international swap too!

TerryF 02/ 8/2007 #

I'm in for an international swap.

Chinita 02/ 8/2007 #

i love the dollar store! Are there dollar stores outside the US? Anyway, I always like the different gift bags from the dollar store-anything unisex. I know the $$ stores near me have nice looking notepads. Other than that-I enjoy surprises.

FingersInc 02/ 8/2007 #

I'm ok with it being US only, this time. Since I recently spent a bit more on postage on a swap I did, because I sent overseas. Simply do another soon that is international !

FingersInc 02/ 8/2007 #

I like the idea of gift bags for my partner to buy, and any cool funky yarns, and scrapbooking stuff. From there on... have big gobbs of fun finding me something funky ! Colleen

butterflykisses 02/ 8/2007 #

It's nice to see that this swap gained alot of interest so quick and from the looks of it, I'll probably start an international swap next week!

As for me, I love blank notebooks, swedish fish, stationary items or pens. I'm all up for surprises too!

user5064 02/ 8/2007 #

I think to include Canada in this one is good. Shipping isnt that much more than regular. It is overseas that kills ya.

FunToScrap 02/ 8/2007 #

This is GREAT! My sister is dollar store queen! I am glad it isn;t international or I would have to pass. I am brand new to swapbot and just completed 3-4 swaps. I got international in each one! Chy

Craftycakes 02/ 8/2007 #

This should be great. I'm fine with almost anything. I like bizarre, kawaii and cheesy. Look at my flickr site for more....

ElizabethObviously 02/ 8/2007 #

For me- scrapbook stuff, Buddhas ( where i actually got my first one!) candy, candles...fun stuff!

evieroz 02/ 8/2007 #

For me also, I would like scrapbooking stuff especially. Don't really want candles nor knick-knacks. Thanks.

gem 02/ 8/2007 #

'Nother dollar store junkie checking in! I like all the paper-goods (stickers, decorative napkins, notecards and yes I love the gift bags too - the more colorful & artistic the better) unique things to use as art supplies and cool necklaces. Fun little containers are good (trinket boxes, storage bins) Candy is cool (yeah Swedish Fish those are goood) but please no chocolate or anything that could drip or melt. These are just suggestions! so my partner has an idea of what I like - it's not a "list" of wants (I know people can be put off by that), and you are certainly free to surprise me!

~ gem ~

user5976 02/ 8/2007 #

I would love to join this swap but I'm in Canada...I love the idea of an international swap like this.

Dibrittain 02/17/2007 #

I like about anything from Coke glasses, stickers, candy, rubber stamps, stationary, fun items, Be creative and send me anything you would find fun to get yourself. If you find some Vampire/Halloween or Bat stuff that is a plus. Some dollar stores you may find out dated seasonal items. I also like London UK if you find anything related to it.

user5945 02/17/2007 #

I love dollar stores -- I like printed napkins, stickers, gift bags, candy, storage containers -- seasonal decorations -- feel free to surprise me. I also have 9 month old daughter and she loves wiffle balls from the dollar store.

user988 02/17/2007 #

Great! I am also addicted to the dollar store. I like the gift bags. Esp; Betty Boop. I also like the note cards & matching stationery. Please no scented items as I am allergic. Also no candles. I like seasonal items but not childess. I like Easter ornaments. Travel games are great. No puzzle books.

roberta51503 02/17/2007 #

I too would like gift bags, paper items for crafting, napkins, items for cardmaking, candy in tins. Not a fan of cutsie though. Want to start shopping now, gotta wait and see what my partner likes though or I'll be buried in items!!! lol

KarlaKC 02/18/2007 #

I just realized that I hadn't mentioned anything I'd like from a dollar store. I'm easy to please! I find myself hanging out in the stationery aisle the most (pens, stationery/writing tablets, blank notecards, scrapbooking supplies, bookmarks, stickers, packing tape, etc.) I enjoy anything that has green frogs, butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, flowers, rainbows or waterfalls on it. Oh, and "Inspirational" or "Christian" items/sayings are fine with me, too. If you hang out in the stationery aisle when shopping for me, I'm sure you'll come out with something I'd enjoy in no time! :) Have fun! I know that I'm looking forward to getting my partner's name so that I can check out what she/he enjoys! I just LOVE the dollar store!

KarlaKC 02/18/2007 #

Just a comment to say that I hope the coordinator's comment in the rules about "swappers with more than two no sends will also be banned" will be enforced. The swap begins in only a week and I see 3 swappers here that fall in that category. One has three 1 ratings, one has four 1 ratings, and another has SIX ratings of 1!!!

inkysquid 02/18/2007 #

What a great idea for a swap! I love anything stationery related...interesting socks...kitchen gadgets...candy...and surprises :D

user2789 02/18/2007 #

This sounds like such a blast!! The only thing I request not be sent to me is cosmetics, perfumes, that kind of stuff. I would love to be surprised though!!!

Thanks so much!!

user5208 02/18/2007 #

Oh I just love Dollar Stores! These are just suggestions, but I love~funky yarn, incense, incense holders, any scrapbooking items, funky yarn, stationary items, did I mention funky yarn? ;) The only thing I really do not want are any stuffed/plushy toys. Thanks and have fun!

user4174 02/18/2007 #

Do u count Puerto Rico as part of the US or international??? Cause even though it is a commonwealth of the US some people count it as international. We do have the same postal service and its cheaper to send something to Puerto Rico than coast to coast in the US. I want to know so I can join the swap cause by that way the swap its an awesome idea!!!!!

dandelion 02/19/2007 #

This looks like soooo much FUN-I LOVE the $ Store! My favorite aisles are the paper related ones (stationery, scrapbooking, etc). But I\'m up for anything-LOVE a surprise.

BUSYBEE 02/20/2007 #

Well I guess I need to put in my list. Well here goes...ANYTHING...if I do not have a use for it then I am sure that 1 of my kids will find it a home. If I need it I will just go and check 1 or 2....(okay maybe more)of the 60 purses my 4 year old daughter has in her room...I will welcome anything...Shopping at $ store is my second job...:)

LuldaCasadaga55 02/20/2007 #

BRING IT ON! Oh my, I can\'t go in one of these stores without spending $50...so, I guess I\'ll just have to up it to $60. :D

I\'m easy to please, but here are some suggestions...I\'m partial to paper, scrapbooking items, hair ties, gift bags, shower gels (no funky smelling ones though) unusual items, picture frames, socks, candy, pens, seasonal items. (No cutesy! I have no kids) Anything goes...have fun!! Linda

chesterbarb50 02/20/2007 #

I find dollar stores fun because you know that nothing is more than $1 and you can have a basketful of stuff for such a small amount. I don\'t like knick knacks from dollar stores, but I do like kitchen items, things for your hair, notebooks, pens, pencils- anything for the desk, gift bags, picture frames. More useful things. I am a sucker for interesting plates or cups - even plastic ones.

lizjane86 02/20/2007 #

This swap sounds like it\'ll be a blast!

I\'m not going to be picky. But, I would like, as everyone else said, some scrapbooking stuff. Also, if they have CDs, I will take one or two! :-D Like here, they sell relaxing classical music...I love those.

I also like candles, candy...anything like that! Have fun with it!

Twink 02/21/2007 #

This sounds like fun! I\'d like treats for my animals, baby items, and maybe candles, stickers or candy. I\'m easy to please. I\'m really excited about this swap!

user3007 02/21/2007 #

I like stationary, memo pads, pens and all sorts of things I would love...I like surprises.

user6493 02/23/2007 #

I like craft supplies, stationary, scrapbooking matierials, etc. Feel free to surprise me! Just no incense, candles, or anything with a really strong scent please. I live in a dorm, so those things aren\'t allowed. I can\'t wait!!

GrannysNamesake 02/23/2007 #

this sounds like a fun swap. I like garden seed packets, birdhouses, colorful potholders and dishtowels, anything with rose scents, candles, sachets, paper goods like napkins and paper plates, gift bags, stationery, interesting picture frames of all sizes and tools like screwdriver sets and electrical tape. I don\'t have any children or pets and don\'t need any makeup. I keep busy at all crafts and use just about anything, and am looking forward to surprises.

mrsdarcy 02/24/2007 #

oh, i love $store swaps! i like stationary, pens, lipgloss/makeup, candles/candleholders, travel themed items, cute boxes/jewlerey, etc. and surprises are great of course! thanks.

user6160 02/25/2007 #

No list for me, I'll take anything!

user5512 02/25/2007 #

I know I am posting this late, but in case my swap partner needs ideas, I like: beaded necklaces that I could hang from my rearview mirror in my car, stationary, scrapbooking supplies, pens, coloring books, book marks, gift bags, wrapping paper, and suprises! :) Have fun shopping everyone

Bloodrecuted 02/25/2007 #

Honestly, I like random. The more random the better. And toys.

Jill 02/25/2007 #

Hey, Swap Partner!

I would love anything crafty...scrapbooking paper, pens, scissors, paints,...Have fun shopping!!!

crochetjunkie 02/25/2007 #

Apparently we have formed a group of dollar store junkies without meaning to! LOL I love all the dollar stores, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar and Big Lots even has some cute stuff. It's fund to get more for your money! I love all kinds of scrapbooking supplies, cute colored paper of different sizes, any kind of stickers, any kind of craft item really and I LOVE felt tip pens! So, go to town and have a blast finding stuff! :) Jennifer

CJQueenSwaper 02/27/2007 #

Hi Marion, I mailed out your package today. I hope you enjoy the fun things I sent and I tryed to get somethings you could use. I think we have alot of the same interest so let me know what you think. Cathy Jewell

ElizabethObviously 02/27/2007 #

to my swap partner- other stuff i mgiht like- bath stuff like poofs, shower gel, candle tarts, stationary, scrapbook stuff...hmmm...yah!

To MY partner- i bought all your stuff today!!!

gem 03/ 1/2007 #

I'm having fun putting together my partner's package ... Just need to find 1-2 more things and I'll be ready to mail! But I wanted to mention - don't forget - most Target stores now have a $1 section (mine is right up front in our SuperTarget) and they usually have really cute stuff.

~ gem ~

lizjane86 03/ 1/2007 #

sasha, I should get your stuff mailed off this weekend.

FYI: Most Wal-Marts also have $1 sections!

user5497 03/ 2/2007 #

To my partner: I am allergic to everything so NO bath stuff/lotion/etc. Other then that, I don't even know what I'd want from one of these stores. No knick knacks. ... I like office supplies.

I thought this was really tedious, trying to shop for this swap. I went to a Dollar Tree in my city and wasn't impressed at all. I have never been in a dollar store, that's why I wanted to join, but it looks like a bunch of useless stuff. Anyway, I've learned my lesson! My package is going out tomorrow to Janet Warner. (I'm going to look at another store to see if I can fill the box a little more.) :[

butterflykisses 03/ 2/2007 #

elle - the dollar stores may not always have what you are hoping to find, but I did my shopping for my partners at Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Dollar General and Wal-Mart. You can find many $1 items at all of these stores. Like gem said as well, many Target stores also have a $1 section as well.

butterflykisses 03/ 2/2007 #

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! - it seems that there has been some confusion about the $10 limit for this swap. The idea of this swap was to go to a dollar store ( a store that sells only one dollar items ) and buy 10 items which would equal $10 for the spending limit. One person has already received a swap with only five items inside because their partner had to spend five dollars on shipping. The ten dollar limit is to be spent on the items... not the items and the shipping combined. I'm sorry that I did not make that completly clear, but I am posting this in hopes that any one else out there who is not really sure about the spending limit, now knows what it means.

GrannysNamesake 03/ 3/2007 #

Roberta, I had a lot of fun shopping for you, I sent your package today and it has a lot of neat stuff in it.

Marcia in PA, your package arrived today, and I loved it! The first thing I opened was the fuschia-colored drawstring gauze bag holding the stationery, pen and magnet combo...well, I laughed out loud...it was the EXACT item I was going to buy for myself in the Dollar Store last week! But I did not buy it for myself because my 5 year old daughter wanted one (the purple set) and I bought the gold bagged set for a friend. I didn't have enough to buy myself one! So I set down that same exact fuschia colored set to come back and get later...only you sent one to me! How awesome is that? I also chuckled at the little scrapbooking book you chose to send...SAME one I've bought for myself! You know my taste! I can never have enough of these cute little scrapbooks. I, of course, LOVED the ladybug and butterfly stickers and the paper was the best! I hadn't seen the inspirational words sets of scrapbooking paper at my dollar store, so these were a nice treat! Thank you for the pens, too! I let my daughter have the purple heart light up pen 'cause she loves purple. But I just had to keep the lady with the pink hair pen...too funny and exactly how I feel some days...FRAZZLED!

Thank you for a great package, Marcia!

jakfrostwife 03/ 8/2007 #

Scrapbooking Princess your package arrived today! I loved it! You must of gotten good vibes cause everything in it was something that I can use or NEEDED! Some of the items were not what I could find here on the westcoast~the pen's (love them!) the note cards (very cute) and those power clips I just got myself some the other day and use them on lot's of large swaps that I need to glue down the ribbon (hold's like a champ).... Thanks so much~ this swap will go down as one as of my favorites....as much as receiving as giving! Doris

user2789 03/ 9/2007 #

I am so glad you liked your goodies Doris :) It was such fun to shop for you :)

gem 03/10/2007 #

The nitelight is quite unique- I could go on and on- but suffice it to say that you are a great swapper (I am new to this). Thanks again. Barbara N.

user6160 03/12/2007 #

Jakfrostwife, I got my package today, and it was GREAT. How wonderful of you to have a theme and walk me through how to use each thing! Your letter was the best part! I really like the microfiber dish towel and the garden charm as well. I'll be putting it up as soon as it stops raining!

Thanks so much!!

janeausten 03/12/2007 #

Thanks for letting me know Bombshell-o-matic. I'll be looking for my package soon!

jakfrostwife 03/13/2007 #

OK Grace to tell you the truth....I love to go to the Dollar store just for those darn microfiber dish towels! (You have to keep going back cause they only come in every once in a while, but then do we need an excuse to go?) I've even been know to take one or two to a pot luck so that I don't worry about leaving my favorite one there! (come on, it's a buck!) And it doesn't matter if your kitchen is clean as long as we have clean/new dish towels, life is good.

& I had to buy myself that garden charm too, except where we live if I waited until it stopped raining it would never get hung outside....~I'm gald you like it.....I can't wait for this swap to posted again. I loved my swap partners stuff and had a blast with yours....Doris

user3007 03/13/2007 #

gem 03/20/2007 #

Both this swap for me and my son's for the Kids Swap came today so we were going crazy with the package opening :D

And I just wanted to give big thanks to bloodredcuted for my Dollar$tore swap package, you really did an excellent job picking things for me, but most especially: The moonface garden stone - that I almost bought for myself, the cool stampcollage puzzle that I DID buy for myself, HAH! (but now I have one to alter and one to use in other stuff, yay!), the very cool paperweight I was also eyeing, the picture frame that I am determined to put some cool "doublesided" art into, and this will seem funny cause it's such a small thing - but that darn pencil sharpener came in SO handy, I needed to sharpen a kids' Beginner pencil (the fat ones that aren't presharpened) just today and not one sharpener here that fit. And then your box showed up and Ta-Da! theres the exact size one I needed. (I know ya probly added that bag'a'goodies for my boys but I called the sharpener!) Thanks again, this was a really fun swap for me, both ways :)

~ gem ~

user3007 03/21/2007 #

KarlaKC 03/22/2007 #

Elizzabeth Anne, your package was mailed yesterday (March 22) and should be there to you in two or 3 days! While you told me in a personal email that you'd like just about anything, I hope you really meant that and find your package to your liking. I threw in a little more considering the lateness of the hour. Enjoy it!
