I hope a lot join in and if we get a good amount I will try to do this monthly.

.....I am not too picky about colors, but please no plaids for me, I don't care for them

Mugsie 01/ 5/2016 #

I love all colors! I just am not a fan of browns & tans ~ earthy colors! Unless one of those colors is with something bright or bold ~ like brown and hot pink for example! Thanks.....

So to get a 12 1/2 inch block would you start with 14 inch blocks

sherheart 01/ 6/2016 #

I like brights. Not crazy about pastels.

Thank you to Cyn for showing me a much better tutorial! I will add the new tutorial and we are now making a 10" block! Hope it is okay with everyone!

You're welcome!

My color preferences are in my profile--deep rich colors and brights. I also prefer no or at least limited novelty fabrics,

junemoon 01/10/2016 #

I'd like brights. This is so easy and fast, I wish I had two partners -- then I'd have a collection quicker also.

I've watched the tutorial twice (wil watch again, I don't follow others' directions well) BUT shesays at the beginning that she is starting with three ten inch squares before any cutting and sewing. At the end she doesn't tell you how big the block is but it will definitely be an inch smaller with two 1/4 inch seams in each direction. So we will end up with a 9-inch block.

The only way to end up with a 10" block is to start with 11"squares

Mugsie 01/22/2016 #

Thank you June so much for catching that!

Okay everyone ~ we must start with an 11" block!

twobluecrows 01/22/2016 #

@junemoon and @mugsie the ones she ends up with (and the ones I have dozens of already from other swaps like this) are just about 9".

Starting with three 10" squares ends you up with three 9" blocks, perfect for three partners--maybe for next time?

junemoon 01/23/2016 #

Twobluecrows -- you are absolutely right. She should have said that in the tutorial

Mugsie 01/25/2016 #

Thanks two ~ I will do that next time!
