Description:

I've been wanting to make these for a long time and hope you'll join me!

For this swap you'll have two partners and you'll send 1 Japanese paper doll to each partner.

I've searched the web for good instructions and I like the ones I found

Here

The tutorial is easy-to-follow, and all measurements are given in inches. If you find another tutorial you like better, feel free to use that one. For visual learners there are video tutorials on youtube.

The instructions call for chiyogami paper (I think that's a type of origami paper) BUT I think you can use any type of thin, patterned scrapbook paper in coordinating colors.

I have seen these used as bookmarks and they can also decorate greeting cards or hang as ornaments--very versatile.

Just a note: When sending the dolls to your partners, please help the postal system to keep them FLAT by inserting a piece of stiff cardboard inside your envelope.

Let's make some paper dolls!

These are really cute. I'm super busy the next couple of weeks but I will watch this swap and see how it goes.

I have a kit for making these......now if I can only find it.

I think these would be really cute using vintage book plate paper too =o)

Oh I'm so glad everyone is interested! I think they're so cute . . . wish I had a kit, too! I agree about the vintage book plate paper -- participants need not use any specific type of paper; I'm all for artistic license! Why not make extras to send to loved ones . . . they look really fancy! . . . One of the tutorials I saw suggested using black crepe paper for the hair -- just a thought.

Could we do this one again in March or April? I'm moving yet again and will be out of the loop for the month of February. Love these cuties and want to make some soon...thanks.

Yes, we'll do it again! And please accept my apology to everyone in the group--I neglected to change partners to '2' so we'll just be sending to one partner. IF you're inspired, feel free to create another and send to someone at random (addresses available under 'View Participants'). Have fun!!

Just so you know only the host can view participants (other than their direct partners) under View Participants. So if someone wants a random second doll feel free to pm me =o) Thanks for the swap isabellasnow.
