Description: | |
This is a penpal letter swap for anyone who is in some way in the LGBTQA+ spectrum and wants to write about their experiences, problems, or anything else that you feel like writing about. At least half a page (A5) must be about LGBTQA+ matters, and share only as much as you feel comfortable with sharing. (If you don't feel comfortable writing lots of information about yourself, perhaps instead discuss any wider social/political LGBTQA+ matters) although it would be nice (although to be inclusive to those who don't feel comfortable discussing this yet, you will not be rated down for not doing so) to state how you identify, and maybe a little about your experiences. Please give the look of the letter a bit of a Pride theme, flag colours (not necessarily rainbow) small Pride themed doodles (I'm thinking of a cute doodle of a girl and a girl holding hands or something of that nature-- but feel free to be creative). The outside of the envelope can also be decorated in a similar way, however if your partner messages you to not have the outside of the envelope decorated like this-- please PLEASE respect this. Although Pride mail art is pretty awesome to some, others may not be in the position for people to be seeing their post like this, so if this is the case, please message your partner. Obviously I don't need to say this but please be respectful in your letter. On top of the obvious (no homophobia, transphobia, acephobia etc...) also be careful about the slurs you may be using towards things. Asking questions to your partner like "How do you feel about the reclamation of this word ________?" is acceptable, but maybe be careful about using potentially offensive language as standard until you've gotten to know what your penpal is comfortable with (if you choose to keep penpalling-- which would be awesome). On the other hand, be prepared to read a letter that may have some uncomfortable events related. You may feel free (not don't feel compelled to) discuss any problems or troubles you may have experienced, and therefore you may have to read these in your partner's letter. If you don't feel comfortable with this, then I advise you don't join this swap. For your letter please write at least 4 A5 sheets. As a bonus, please include a pride themed flat surprise along with your letter. Examples may be a rainbow piece of fabric or ribbon, a tiny pride flag, an ATC or postcard depicting some part of the LGBTQA+ spectrum, and due to the fact that it may be difficult for you to get an item like this, handmade is perfectly acceptable. I would like a 4.98 rating for this swap, and although I would usually allow newbies into my flatmail swaps, in this case I am wanting at least 10 completed type 2 or 3 swaps. Also! Feel free to reply to your partner! You may find a new penpal. If you have any questions about this swap, please ask! (I've tried to make an effort to make this swap safe and inclusive for people, however if there is anything someone feels should be changed, feel free to send me a message about it). |
