Description: | |
Shakespeare died. No matter how hard we search for him, he's no longer at the Globe, except perhaps in ghost form. And although it seems that he died relatively peacefully, let us not forget that the life of many a Shakespearian contemporary was (as Thomas Hobbes wrote nearly 40 years later) nasty, brutish, and short. To celebrate 400 years of Will-less despondence, let's go tragic. The goal of the swap will be to create one minizine of any size or shape using a stab-stitch binding and featuring in some way a reference to one of Shakespeare's tragedies or a Shakespearian-like tragic hero(ine) or setting. References for stabbing (aside from Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and the like) are found here and here. Please do not feel obligated to buy an awl or expensive linen thread, and neither feel that a bone folder is an absolute necessity. A large upholstery needle makes a nice poky device, (or perhaps a hammer and wire brad could be used?), and I have used a wooden spoon handle as a bone folder in the past.. To wit, one minizine with stab-stitched binding, that resembles or refers to a Shakespearian tragedy, to one lucky swap partner. Goodnight, sweet prince! I will Mark Anthony any unsent swaps. After Bastille Day. |
