We're long overdue for another "monochrome swap." The theme this time is water. There's something about monochrome photography that reveals the beauty of a thing in ways that we miss because of all the color. Don't get me wrong. I love the brilliance of color photography, but there's something about monochrome photography that can be breathtaking. For this swap, you will play around with monochrome photography again. This time you will take photos of bodies of water. Think oceans, rivers, lakes, streams, creeks, bayous, swamps, etc. It's perfectly okay for the photo to contain more than water, but water should be a prominent feature. Take a few shots. Alter a few shots. Then, pick what you consider your best two and send them to your partner. If you're converting to monochrome (rather than shooting in monochrome), it might be fun to send your partner before and after pics (not required). While you're at it, you might be in the mood to play around and alter the photo in other ways (move or twist some things)-- sometimes the results can be stunning! Tell your partner a little about the photos, about your experience with the shots. Sender's choice for presentation--photos, notecards, postcards, etc. *Please Note: Feel free to experiment with any form of monochrome photography (black and white, sepia, pink, blue, yellow, etc.). As long as the photo is some form of monochrome, it is fair game. |
