Warning, this is an extensive swap description, so PLEASE read it in its entirety. As an artist I am constantly reading new books, magazines, and articles, as well as watching dozens of YouTube videos on techniques and supplies I have no experience with in order to learn more. One of my favorites is the Ranger blog that hosts well known names like Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, and Dyan Reavely. After doing a private swap recently with @bklynfinest77 we discussed the idea of doing a journal swap that incorporates techniques used by Tim Holtz and the ranger gang, and so I'm going to host a round robin for anyone interested in joining. For this swap, you will need a good sturdy mixed media quality journal that can withstand multi layered techniques. I highly recommend this journal which comes in two different sizes, or making your own using good quality paper like cold press watercolor. (Alternately you may create your pages and glue them in to the journal you have for each round if you choose.) There is no set size, but let's try to keep it larger than 3x4 and smaller than 11x8.5. Your journal should have plenty of extra pages in case participants need to skip a page due to paint or stain leaking through. The art you create in each journal will be up to you, but it should use at least some products from the ranger line, or incorporate techniques taught through their blog, and you tube sites, or through their publications. Each journal should have an envelope in either the front or the back. When you complete your page spread, please write a note to the owner of the journal on a separate sheet of notebook paper and briefly (or more in depth if you choose,) describe the products and techniques you used. You may choose to simply refer them to the tutorial you used if you choose. You will stick this into the envelope, so that when the journal makes it home the owner will have a great resource to be able to recreate techniques you may have used that are new to them. Just to be clear...you MAY use ANY products or techniques you choose, but at least some portion of your art should incorporate a minimum of at least one technique or product sold or taught by Ranger ink and its designers. For this Swap you will send only 1 journal each round, and it MUST INCLUDE TRACKING, which should be posted below in the comments. Please post each time you send and receive a journal. If you have any questions at all, please shoot me a pm. I do try to check the swaps for questions, but I'll definitely answer more quickly by private message. One last note...you should be prepared to complete each journal within 2 weeks and be able to mail it out again. I think this is going to be an amazing opportunity for all of us to share great techniques and products with one another, and I can't wait to see the amazing things everyone will create! Edit After a suggestion by @Artstamper I've decided to change this swap to include the total number of participants so that we may each work in one another's journal and rate one another. It will work the same as a round robin, in that you will still work on each participants journal, only this way you are able to rate each person. When partners are assigned I will post the proper sending order below so that each person should have only 1 journal to work in at a time. I have also edited the dates as my mom will be having major surgery the week of the original send by date. |
