Description:

Like the idea of junk journals but too intimidated to bind them? Ease into the process with a flow journal! Simply fold at least 15 pieces of paper, and tie them to a sturdy cover. Create in your journal some pockets and maybe tuck in some goodies. If you want to, you can make pockets separate from the journal, such as an envelope with goodies inside. Check out this video for more!

To recap:

  • Make a flow journal with at least 15 pieces of paper, cover, pockets, and goodies.

  • Some ideas for paper - magazine pages, book pages, artworks, gelli prints etc.

  • Send the journal to your partner!

Happy swapping!

@sandyponey I've modified the swap so that the gelli prints are not mandatory.

a gelatin plate, is often referred to as a "gelli plate" but that's a brand! Please learn from my experiences of wasting money! The brand "Gel Press" makes a much better gelatin plate. I learned to do this form of printmaking in High School and I'm now 54 years old... if you have a brayer you can get a very similar effect using a piece of glass (from a picture frame?) or the kitchen table for that matter. You won't get the finest details but sometimes that's not what you're going for anyway! Check out you tube videos!

Also, they are super duper easy to make. I've used Gelli brand and I've made my own. I MUCH preferred the one I made. I'm currently without one, though I've got the stuff to make a new one I just never seem to remember to make the time to do it!

I've got to try that, Barbara!!

@pkpeace I received a 15.00 gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday and I used it to buy the plate you recommended. I printed with it tonight and I think the firmness is almost exactly the same as my home made one. I really love this one and I did t even have to make the time to make it, lol! The one you make is super easy though...its just glycerin (find it with soap making supplies at any craft store,) and unflavored gelatin (find with jello at grocery.) You'll have to google or YouTube the "recipe" but you just melt it all together in the microwave and pour it into whatever size container you want. I use a large baking dish, then I store it in a ziploc bag. You can remelt it if it gets marked up and make a brand new plate. I did t know that and I tossed my old one but when I do make a new one, I'll be sure to reuse it!

I splurged and bought an 8 x 10. I also have a 5 x 7 but would like a round one. I'm going to try this as they are expensive! I go through them as soon as they get bubbled...I'm done.
