Description:

HOW IT WORKS:

The idea is to swap different bits of yarn (and ribbon and strips of fabric) out of your stash around to multiple people, and in the end we will all have enough to make Rapunzel scarves.

Here is a link to the famous Rapunzel Scarf: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=72581.0

The basic scarf is made from 30 different pieces of ten foot yarn. (ribbons, strips of fabric, etc.)

To participate in this swap, you will need to send 6 pieces of ten-foot lengths of yarn (etc) to five partners. (Total = 30 pieces).

Remember to include your user name in your swap package so that your partner knows who it's from.

Depending on the number of people who sign up, this number may need to be tweaked a bit, so please remain flexible on the matter. You may need to send a little more or less to make everything fair and even.

Depending on the number of participants, we may get to express a few preferences. Please list them below.

This swap is a little different from other swaps in that you will be shipping to multiple partners. The good news is that your yarn (etc.) can fit in an envelope and will weight very little.

i will be angeling for this swap and also i will ban those who i dont see fit or dependable for this swap.

No Sending wire ribbon or anything that you wouldnt feel comfortable wearing against your skin

International beacuse it wont cost much to send

my perfered colors are green purple and black i am trying to make a scarf for my brother and also please no eyelash yarn

jacqredwine 10/27/2008 #

my preference is for browns and lt pinks, turquoise, lime green. Any other colors that would look good with brown. some eyelash yarn, ric rac, or yarn with little puff balls is welcome. i'd prefer to not get fabric or wire ribbon, please.

Magpieandluna 10/28/2008 #

thank you for joining jacqredwine

cerwinrhiannon 10/28/2008 #

I made one of these last year, and got tons of compliments on it.

This time I'm thinking maybe autumn colors-all kinds of yarn, ribbon, string, etc. Be imaginative-it makes the scarf more interesting.

craftycrocheter 10/28/2008 #

This sounds like fun, I would like to make it for my daughter, any bright colors would be great. Thanks.

crochetjunkie 10/28/2008 #

this is an interesting idea for a scarf. I would prefer not to get any eyelash yarn or wire ribbon please. Everything else is welcome!! Any color is fine! I like the way the one in the pic looks and it's all different colors.

Magpieandluna 10/28/2008 #

Thanks for joining everyone! this is going to be a blast now i have a question i am planning to make more rounds ahead should i make them color themed or just like this one?

coolbaker5 10/28/2008 #

Does it matter on the type of yarn? Should it be heavy worsted weight or is it open to any type?

Magpieandluna 10/28/2008 #

any type unless your partner has preferences it is also open or strips of fabric and ribbon

hippofairy 10/28/2008 #

color preferences: blue, purple, brown, black, green (and any colors that would go good with those.)

i'd prefer not to get wire ribbon or wool yarn (wool makes me itchy). i'd like my scarf to be hand washable. :)

i'd love some yarn with puff balls! and fabric, rik rak, ribbon would be fun too. thanks!

Magpieandluna 10/29/2008 #

thanks for joining!

Magpieandluna 10/29/2008 #

Ok i am going to say no wire ribbon as well in the description!

shellipw 10/29/2008 #

this sounds like fun. I have been able to take the wire out of the ribbon that I have used before, so I don't really think it is that big a deal, unless there are some the wire won't come out of

mpontalba 10/29/2008 #

Nifty idea! I would love either browns or purples (there are a couple of these scarves in my future!)

crochetjunkie 10/30/2008 #

Kinderposht: I think further rounds would be neat if they were color themed. Actually either way would still be fun. I made one of these on my own and they are so neat. I have several to make for my sisters and nieces now. LOl

Love the idea!!

Here is my first ever Rapunzel Scarf. I like it!

I have a question: Do we have to go by what our partners prefer? I have a pretty good stash of yard but I don't have every color of the rainbow (yet). Is the preference a suggestion or a rule? If it's a rule, I'll need to go shopping, not that I mind! I love to shop.

I absolutely LOVE this idea! It will be fun to see what we get and how it will all mesh together. Any color is fine. One question - is it okay to ask that I not receive any Red Heart or similar yarn that runs $2 a skein or less, or shiny craft ribbon that costs a buck a roll? And for fabric, nothing that is white on one side (the design is printed on one side only). I'm not trying to be difficult, really! :) I just won't use anything like that if I get it. Thanks.

I like the idea of doing color themes, too. A monochrome scarf could be so beautiful!

Magpieandluna 11/ 2/2008 #

:) i would prefer if you did as much for your pater as possible but it was made to mostly be a stash busting swap! but if you would like to boy your partner stuff they would like then feel free :)

Euphoria: I am sorry but i would ask you not to request those rules for your partner this swap was ment to be a stash busting swap like i said before you can request colors and not to recieve fabrics or some ribbons but you cant ask for a particular price of yarn and stuff sorry

euphoria 11/ 2/2008 #

Kinderposht, I understand. If I get that kind of thing, I'll just find some other use for it. Thanks!

Magpieandluna 11/ 2/2008 #

Your welcome thanks for joining!

jacqredwine 11/ 8/2008 #

I've made 3 scarves already! I just couldn't wait. I'm totally addicted to making these. They go much faster than knitting. I can't wait to get more yarn to make more.

KrisWW 11/10/2008 #

I love all kinds of greens, rusts, reds, browns, orange, yellow, gold, and 'natural' colours.

Blues, pinks, neon colours and gray just don't work with my skin tone - they make me look sick. :)

Ribbons, fabrics and yarns are great, but not lumpy fluffy textured things. (and what is rik rak anyhow?... oh, just googled it... very odd! lol)

adoptacritter 11/11/2008 #

Surprise me. :)

beaglemom 11/11/2008 #

I also would like to be surprised! anything goes.

leahJULY 11/13/2008 #

Love this idea! Anything goes for me but I'd love to get some interesting, off-beat, unique, colors and materials!

Starogardzka 11/14/2008 #

Hi, I love lavender, mauve, purple, silver, white, ivory, cream, dusky pink, powder blue, moss green, sea green, all shades of grey (mostly slate grey and silver grey), cobalt blue, and black. All textures and thicknesses. Please no yellows, oranges, or neon colors... Thank you! :-)

redsockz 11/15/2008 #

I'm happy to have whatever arrives. Who knows what exciting colors and textures my partners may send. =)

AuntB 11/15/2008 #

I like almost any color. I do like the greys and greens. This is an interesting swap so unique colors would be great. I do like everything.

suzapalooza 11/15/2008 #

I prefer bright, happy colors and I adore pompom trim. But I will be delighted with whatever my partners send. Thanks!

hippofairy 11/17/2008 #

okay, so i just experienced some REALLY soft and cuddly wool yarn yesterday... so i'll have to change my stance on it now. an earlier comment i wrote said no wool yarn, but i guess whatever you have in your stash would be fine. if i feel like it's too itchy i'll use it for something else! sorry to sound so picky... i'm really not! but i would love some fuzzy cuddly things! especially pompoms! :)

Magpieandluna 11/26/2008 #

just copy and paste one of the addresses above into yoru internet address baar

ukstash 11/27/2008 #

The swap hostess suggested I post something here to help you choose for me. I am happy to get anything as I can always use it for dotee doll hair if I don't want it for a scarf.

If you really want to know I usually wear tree colours, brown, green, purple and rusty orange. (muted/dusky shades) I never wear black or white. But I really don't mind what you send.

happymomto7 11/27/2008 #

I would love to be suprised, any is fine! Thanks

MirandAck 11/29/2008 #

Any colors would be great!
