ZMACS July: Mythical Girl Power Zine

Wonder Woman is in the theaters and I am making a My Little Pony for a swap, so it is time for some girl power with a mythical angle.

Let's make a zine (A4 8-page minizine, 16-page accordion minizine, larger format, any shape/ size you want) that can be photocopied. Key features of the zine are that it features a mythical creature or storyline, and that it has a message of female empowerment or friendship. You may interpret the mythology angle and the female empowerment or friendship angle in any way that you desire. You may use familiar characters or new ones; mermaids, ogres, witches, unicorns, superheroes, Greek goddesses, folk heroes, et cetera are all examples, but there are many more possibilities. Two sources that I have loved are The Serpent Slayer and Other Stories of Strong Women by Katrin Tchana & Trina Schart Hyman, also Not One Damsel in Distress by Jane Yolen, both children's books although some of the stories are quite intense, as many myths are!

Make 3 copies of your zine and send one copy to 3 swap partners. Then sit back and enjoy your awesomeness.
