This will be my first dotee. I have one question. I see on other swaps that sometimes people use felt for the face and sometimes they don't. Does it really matter? I'm cool either way I just want to be sure I do it correctly. Thanks!

midwestknitgirl- Hi! There's no real set rule as to what the face has to be made of... you can use a felt face, it can be clay, fabric, muslin. Most people use a quarter as a circle template for the face. I just cut the circle free hand. The face can be hand-sewn on using DMC floss or sewing thread, fabric ink, even beaded will work. It's up to the creator! If you need inspiration or ideas- use Flickr! Good Luck! Be prepared to be hooked winks

Thank you AwtemNymf - I appreciate the info. I did check flickr and oh my goodness, there are so many talented people. Yowza. I did make one already but I may redo it, it just doesn't seem like it has enough embellishment. What the heck, it will be good practice, right?

I really, really, really DON'T want to join any more swaps before Christmas. But how can I resist a candy cane shaped Dotee?!?!? Colleen, I'm really put out with you for posting this swap. ;-p Gaye

giggles @ SEMOkraftee...hehehe! :P

@midwestknitgirl - I hear ya for sure! I've only made two myself, and while the first one came out very nicely, the second one was just eh... But through it all I got a lot of practice and learned a lot from my mistakes!

I have to admit I gave away the first one I made already (I still didn't like it and didn't know what to do with it but a co-worker GUSHED over it, go figure) so I'm working on my second one. Sure to be much better than the first. :-)
