As a beginner quilter the thought of creating all the blocks needed for a quilt at once is a bit intimidating. I found this great tutorial for making the Disappearing 4 Patch that actually starts with fabric charms and thought it seemed like a good swap. I'm also fond of rainbow colored quilts so my plan is to do one a month - same pattern - different color. For this swap the color is Red. Find 2 different 5 inch fabric charms that are mostly red, and 2 white 5 inch charms for each of your 2 blocks. They white can be a solid white or a white on white pattern - but no other colors. The final block will be made out of these 4 squares. Follow the directions at: Disappearing 4-patch Tutorial to make your square. PLEASE NOTE: Your final square should measure 8.5x8.5. This is important if you are going to put the squares together so they match. Make 1 square for each of 2 partners. |
