Description:

Super Bowl Sunday is Feb 1st, 2009. Don't let the boys have all the fun this year!
Lets help each other and send two recipes for soup..on or before "Souper" Bowl Sunday. Send 2 soup recipes to 2 partners before the big day. These may be any recipes for SOUP. Crockpot, Slow cook, leftovers, dump and go.. anything that makes soup! (Stews or chili could work too). They should be typed or printed. We all want to be able to read the recipes. Recipe cards or 8 1/2 x 11 paper - either works. The recipe should be tried and true...something your family loves. The weather leads us to want to hunker down and enjoy the warmth, some new to you recipes should help us to do this. Have fun! Newbies welcome...anyone welcome...It is easy...just 2 recipes to 2 people!
As you think of this day and swap... maybe think of sending some canned soup to the local food bank. There might be others who don't have something warm to fill their belly.

Love getting new recipes from your tried 'n' true collection -- especially soup. My collection is in 8x12 page protectors. Please note dietary info on my profile page before sending. I would appreciate it!

buzzwife ... you are a gem for mentioning contributing to your local food bank. Ours is in need year 'round ... not just at the holidays! And the need has grown with more people losing their jobs and homes. Thanks!

Thanks for joining the swap. I know that our local bank is out of food and has been since September. Not just the holidays for sure! I'm sure what ever you want to send will be fine. It is nice to get something pretty. Enjoy Thanksgiving... I know that I am very thankful for all we have!

I LOVE the idea for this swap. I'm not a sports fan, but I am a soup fan. Recipe's of any kind, actually. Great idea.

Shortly after writing that note about my profile, my profile vanished. I have contacted the site admins in hopes they can restore it. Thus far ... it has not. In a nutshell, I am a vegan-leaning vegetarian. Our household allergies include mushroom, apples, and spinach. Love soup, but chili is awesome. No slow cooker at our place. Thanks!

Any chance you'd make an exception and let a Canadian join who LOVES making soups? Please?

buzzwife 12/11/2008 #

Yes I don't have a problem with a soup lover from the north! :) Happy Swapping.

Yes, and Canada is so cold, they need great soups! :D

You are so sweet for adding in the food bank note. Everyone around here seems to give at Thanksgiving and Christmas [which is GREAT!] but seem to forget come January [understandable]

The need is so much greater now with the economy [at least where we live] and I LOVE that you added that in.

I will be joining and giving. What does a case of soup cost at Costco? $12? I simply won't swap for that week, right? The savings in postage will make all the difference in the world! [If you can get coupons 2/$1 out of your paper you can buy at your local grocery store cheap Or you can print them out online at Campbells and other places...just Google!]

Thank you for doing this

SkippyMom - thanks for the enthusiasim (sp?). I didn't think of going to Sam's for a case, but that's what I'll do too! I hope we all give something...because even a can of soup is a help! I am looking forward to the swap, too!

Can't wait to get my recipes :) I love to cook and bake and enjoy trying new recipes. Please not, however, that my dd has severe peanut and treenut allergies, so I won't be able to make things with those ingredients- thankx!
