The magnet should have your state name on it somewhere, be creative!

For example: I'm from California so I could send a magnet that has the state bird - quail on it (if I could find one) or the Golden Gate Bridge.

My family has a tradition for the adult children to collect magnets from each location we've travelled, and give to our mom to show where her kids have been. Our parents' fridge door is covered with location magnets from all around the world!

We have some internal "guidelines" on what makes a great magnet, and I wanted to share one criteria that we --DON'T-- find acceptable in our collection: the rectangular laminated photo magnets that are approximately business-card sized. Those are just not very special, could be any old image slapped onto a rectangle, so we never choose those. Any ones that are die-cut, sculpted, or made of special materials are especially prized in our collection.

This is not any criteria of this swap, only a suggestion about what we have enjoyed in our own magnet collecting. Have fun!

This is a great idea for a swap, I love magnets, I have a lot holding up "art work" on my fridge not, I can always use more. I love getting things from different areas.

I'll be getting mine next weekend, we'll be traveling across the state and stopping at a great souvenier shop about half an hour from where we're going....

Without sounding too picky, if you happen to get me as your swap buddy and if you happen to live in America I would really like one of those flat rubbery magnets that are cut out in the shape of the state that are representing. I have a very small collection of them, 4 states so far. Honestly, I'll be happy with any magnet, I really enjoy getting mail from far away places.
