Description:

PLEASE NOTE: Well-established folks ONLY (50 or more Type 2/Type 3 swaps completed). I changed the settings to an automatical rating of 4.96. If you wish to participate but your rating is too low, please contact me and I will check your profile and decide whether or not to let you in as well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE TOO: do not ad a new card as long as you still have a card to send out that belongs to someone else. Lately I do receive envies with more then one card (that's okay), but then there is also a brand new card added to join this swap. I have also been contacted about this by other participants. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wouldn't it be great to send a postcard and see where it had been all around the world? Then get it returned back to you after its adventures were over? Let's do it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST ROUND:

Choose a card. A card that you think people would enjoy seeing (however, PLEASE DO NOT USE EXTRA LARGE POSTCARDS THAT WILL REQUIRE EXTRA POSTAGE!). Put your name and address (including the country!) on the right hand side of the card. Put the title of the swap ("Adventures of the Traveling Postcard") and your screen name at the top of the left hand side. PUT IT IN AN ENVELOPE and send it off to your partner. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IF YOU PARTICIPATED IN THE PREVIOUS ROUND(S):

Just write your name, username, city, state/country, on the left hand side of the postcard you received in the previous round. Put it in an envelope and send it to your partner! (DO NOT WRITE YOUR ENTIRE ADDRESS ON THE POSTCARD - THIS TAKES UP TOO MUCH SPACE!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hang on to the postcard(s) that you receive in each round. We will have another round each month. Sign up when you receive yours from the previous round, start another one in rotation, or contact me, as I may have a postcard that needs to be put back into rotation as well! When the left side of the postcard is filled up with the names and cities of those that have received the postcard, the last person will stamp your actual postcard and send it back to you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IMPORTANT:

1.) Please don't send more than 3 cards per round. Hang on to the extra ones and send them in following rounds. If you have too many, please contact me.

2.) Do not ad a new card as long as you still have a card to send out that belongs to someone else. If you do receive a newly started card as an 'extra' card, please let me know.

3.) Before sending out the cards to the next person, do check if the cards belongs to someone who is still participating. If they are not, please contact me about it.

4.) If you decide to stop the swap, please contact me so you can send your received cards to me and I can keep them in rotation.

5.) Do NOT send the postcard back to the original owner until the left side of the postcard is completely filled unless instructed otherwise. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT SENDING YOUR PARTNER'S CARD BACK TO THEM AS PART OF THE SWAP ROUND YOU'RE ON.

6.) Do not destroy, bend, write on the front of, or ANYTHING else that destroys the integrity of the postcard. Treat the postcard how you would want yours treated.

7.) Do not send huge cards! It requirers extra postage! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well-established folks ONLY (50 or more Type 2/Type 3 swaps completed) and I will ban if I feel that you may be a questionable swapper. I want to do my best to ensure that everyone receives their postcards back. So don't join if you don't think you can commit to it for the long haul. I will be checking EVERYONE'S profile and will ban anyone that I feel like. Thanks and happy swapping!

I have one postcard to pass on this time, from round #72, for Sarah Coller (no username listed on the pc).

I would love to start a new card but apparently it's not ok as long as I have received a card to send on. How do I get to start a new card then?

spinweaver 01/10/2018 #

Juniebird, my understanding is you add a new card of your own in with the card you received when you send it on. Lots of times there are multiple cards in the envelope I get.

pne 01/12/2018 #

spinweaver, no, I don't think that was ever encouraged, and as of one or two rounds ago was explicitly disallowed -- see rule 2 under the "IMPORTANT" rules.

Juniebird - you can start a new card if you have no card from the last round. For example, if (a) this is your very first time taking part in the swap; (b) the postcard your partner sent you for the last round did not arrive in time for you to pass it on during this round; (c) the postcard you received in the last round was full after you signed it and so you posted it straight back to the original person.

Juniebird 01/12/2018 #

pne - yes that is my understanding and that is why I haven't added a new card. I just hope my postcard (started in round 66) makes it back to me!

mdkrouwel 01/13/2018 #

PNE is correct, don't start a new card if you have cards to send on. Let's first try to get the traveling ones home before starting new ones. You can also ask me if I have a stock of cards that needs to travel on. I always receive cards from members that stop for a while (or for good).

As an example, I just received in the same envelope several cards, where there are 2 from the same person, started in the same round. Don't start 2 new cards in the same round either!! If you have to start a new card, only start ONE!

I have 5 cards here to send on, if you need spare ones to send on, let me know. Funny fact: card 2 and 3 are the exact same card! :-)

1.) Watercolorgirl (Julia Derr, Mount Vision, USA ), started round 70;

2.) TexyDeb (Debra Kapellakis, Santorini, Greece), started round 68;

3.) Janeengland (Jane Templeman, West Yorkshire, England), started round 69;

4.) bbbhill6 (Bobbie Hill, Mechanicsvill, USA), started round 56,

5.) bbbhill6 (Bobbie Hill, Mechanicsvill, USA), also started round 57.

fairypretty7 01/29/2018 #

So i haven't received my last round #73 as yet, am i allowed to start a new one? If it doesn't arrive before the send date?

Mark63 01/31/2018 #

I am forwarding a PC for Marie-Antoinette Pelser in South Africa (New PC)

spinjenny 02/ 2/2018 #

I'll be sending a card from Sarah Coller.

On the subject of when it is OK to include a new card of your own, what about the situation in which someone's own last traveling card has just been returned full? That would leave them with no card in the swap and it might be many rounds until they don't have any card to pass on. Would it be OK for them to add one when they only have a single card to send?

SatisHuman 02/ 2/2018 #

I am sending to Kacka.

I still have not received a postcard for round #73. I know it's coming from Europe

Could the sent by date be longer in the future?

I ask because I have noticed that my mail is taking a lot longer to arrive. I've mailed things that have taken 20 days or longer to arrive and that's in the US. We have had a lot of snow in our area, but I'm not sure that is the problem.

I've noticed that many people have put in their profiles about mail being slow.

Just a thought......

I know tomorrow is the deadline, so I'm going to have to make a new card for myself, which is something I didn't really want to do.
