Description:

I think each and every one of us has one special ingredient in their spice cabinet that we will find any excuse to throw in each dish we can! Well you will love this swap!

Pick your one favorite spice, and you will have 2 (two) partners and you will send each of them 2 (two) recipes that include your favorite spice! If you have any hints or tips about the spice and things you have found work well with it, please include those if you would like!

Please send the recipes on a recipe card, or index card if possible (unless your partner requests otherwise). However I realize a lot of recipes are long, so you can fit it on whatever possible. Put a little work into it if possible, but as long as you send it, we should be fine.

This is set to international, so if you have a problem with possibly sending outside of your country, please keep that in mind before joining.

I ask that everyone at least rate once they receive their swap!

Someone suggested that we add in the swap that we send our favorite spice. What are your thoughts?

catlingmex 03/10/2018 #

I definitely think it would be a good idea to include the actual spice.

I like the idea unless we get international partners because that would change it from a letter swap to a package swap and the changes the postage from $1.15 to over $10 depending on where you are shipping to. I know even the smallest package cost me $13.65 to mail to Chile when I had a swap partner there. Perhaps we could do this next round and separate it into USA and International?

I joined a swap like that one time and everyone's favorite spice was cinnamon, so we were paying postage to send our partners a common spice they could get at their own store. That was a little ridiculous. So I would suggest that the swap specify that 'common spices' are not allowed.

This swap we are only sending the recipes to cut on postage. We may do one in the future that requires sending the actual spice, but for now I'm keeping it just the recipes as it started.

Oh man... I was the person who suggested this swap. I'm about to send out to my partners that I've come here to double check I have everything that is required. But it has been changed to recipes only. How big are spice packets in the US? I was going to send a 40g bag of Sumac with 2 recipes, which is thin enough and under the 50g weight, to go as a letter. I'm in tea swaps and regularly get 7 foil bags of tea from US swappers with the $1.15 postage. Is it that spice mixes are much larger or heavier in the states? Sorry to ask, I just want to get a better understanding before I suggest more swaps that become USA only.
