Description:

I stumbled upon the artist Lenore Tawney's website and I really like here style. I decided to create a challenge that will have us make a collage that embodies what I like about her pieces.

Create a collage postcard by following these 4 plus 1 steps and only these four steps.

*Use a book page background (a page filled with text or with lots of empty space)
*Add a paint wash (watered down paint applied but that doesn't block the text of the background)
*Add handwriting (cover the entire thing or just a corner or whatever)
*Glue 2 or 3 things onto your piece
* edited: added a step Add one additional element or step on how YOU interpret Lenore's style. Stripes, circles, postage stamps - whatever you feel will help elevate your piece to Lenore's style.

Ooh. I don't know about this idea. I tried following my 4 steps and I didn't conjure anything good. Does anyone have any ideas how to tweak this swap?

Love her art! I don't have any ideas for conveying the process to create something similar. Her collages are uniquely different from one another. I'd love to try to pull out some of her line styles like in her piece titled, "Round and Square," and apply to a collage. Around 2010 I made an altered book page that I think has some similar line features in it. . . . . https://www.flickr.com/photos/gracesanford/14062556560/in/album-72157644789402575/

I know I won't want to send this naked! Too dangerous that things will be ripped off.

Graciepie49, I agree that her collages are each uniquely different. So, do you think with the simple steps I suggest we can come up with something interesting? (ps. your altered book page is gorgeous)

Sure Angie, I think your steps will help with being able to pick out some important elements to include in the design.
