Description:

We will be making a washi card for our partner to brighten their day.

Washi cards are super easy to make. The swap photo is one of my own recent designs. Feel free to copy it or create one of your own (there are TONS of ideas online).

Here's my basic washi card tutorial:

  • Grab a few rolls of washi tape or some samples if you swap them.
  • Take a piece of card stock (if you don't have any you could use a cut-up file folder)
  • Lay a few strips side by side, making sure to wrap both ends around to the back. Then layer this card stock onto a folded card. By wrapping the tape ends to the back, it helps those "sometimes stubborn, less sticky tapes" stay stuck!
  • Adding a stamped greeting is optional.

After your washi card is made, you will then:

  • Write a note inside, telling a little about you and/or your day.
  • Decorate the front of your envelope with washi tape.
  • Choose 4 to 5 random washi tape samples for your partner to play with and wrap them around a playing card or another surface that will allow them to be removed easily. Each tape length should be a minimum of 18 inches (45.72 centimeters). Personally, I wrap 9 times around a standard playing card.

Once you try a simple washi card, you may be inspired to create a few more and use them for pen pal cards, swap cards, etc.

Anyone in this group may join. By signing up it's telling me you are committed to following through with sending on time and rating when you receive the swap. We want everyone to have fun.
