Naked!? Whimsy Envelope Swap! The Emperor's New Envie!

NOTE: There is no theme to what you put inside, only stipulation is the envie must be clear and sent as such! Thank you ^_^

~ I've decided to put a twist on the whimsy jar swaps I've been doing, and try this new whimsy style swap! Instead of a jar stuffed with tiny goodies, we'll use an envelope stuffed with small and tiny flat items! Any envelope you would use to mail a letter or card is fine for this swap! So what do you think, ready to give this new type of whimsy a try?!~

For this swap we'll be creating a single NAKED whimsy envelope for our 1 partner. This will be SENDERS CHOICE! Meaning all items you include can be of your own choosing. HOWEVER PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOUR PARTNERS ALLERGIES IF THEY HAVE ANY! (for example items smelling of smoke can be harmful to those with allergies or asthma, same with perfumes, etc)

Do your best when putting together these whimsy envies! Please follow the instructions.

This IS sender's choice, however that being the case PLEASE NO JUNK!

Do not just open up a junk drawer and grab a handful of paper products, be thoughtful with what you send your partner! Please no blank or plain colored post it notes or post it shapes, no blank address labels etc. This is meant to be 'whimsical' and so the items inside should be visually pleasing in some way, or something you feel is special somehow, something nice for your partner!

Remember, we want to make their day ^_^ Put together something that you would enjoy receiving if it were your gift, something that you're super proud to share with someone else! We want to warm our partners heart with our lovely package! Not leave them feeling a bit deflated by receiving someone's throw aways.

The theme this time is NAKED WHIMSY?....What does that even mean!? Well, instead of using any old envelope as our container, we will use a clear envelope! So it's see through, and you will be able to see all of your naked paper goodies on the inside! You could use a cellophane bag as long as it's taped around the edges and sealed, use thick clear plastic packaging to make an envelope, or use that clear table covering material to make the envelope! Any way that you can think, to create a clear and see through envelope!

We'll be using an envelope as our container, any size for the envelope that's similar to what you would use to mail a letter or card with. No minimum weight in particular, as long as there's a good variety of different sized papery type goods inside, enough to make it look like a super flat snow globe! Then that's all that's necessary ^_^ The envies do not have to be stuffed like they ate as much as they could eat lol If anyone is struggling without a weight requirement I would say around the ounce mark would be more than fine, so a single stamp should suffice to send :) Of course if you'd like you're more than welcome to use or create a larger envelope if you wish. I am allowing a good amount of time for sign ups, and a month until send by.

Remember to include both your Swap-Bot name and the name of this swap, on a little card or memo inside your envie as well!

Please use tape around each edge of your envelope! Since your paper items will be freely floating around inside the envie, we don't want to risk an edge tearing and anything slipping out! Especially if you're shipping overseas! You can use scotch tape, etc, as long as the edges are secured, that's all we need to make sure of ^_^

Items should be LOOSE inside of the envie. If you purchase something wrapped, such as a packet of sticker flakes, or a little bag of die cuts, etc, you should open the bag and dump the loose items into the envie. The idea is to put everything inside so it can get all messy and mixed up in there!

Items that you may include:

Cut out images of cute characters or pictures! You can NICELY cut out images from magazines, etc

Mini kawaii memo sheets, or smaller die cut kawaii memos!

Ribbon or washi tape samples! No limit on length, you can use the length or width of the envie, or even snip just a little bit to share, etc.

Sticker flakes, or cut out stickers

You could include inchies or little tiny papercrafts like those origami stars or tiny paper cranes (flattened of course)!

Aesthetically interesting rappers from candies or tiny snacks (As long as they're clean!!)

Loose confetti or mini die cuts lol Who doesn't love confetti ^_^

Cute or interesting bandaids! (Unused in their packaging of course!!)

These are just suggestions!! There's tons of things you could add! You could make up your own theme, or use totally random paper goods. Use your imagination ^_^ Of course handmade goodies are welcome if you'd like, though please do your best! Remember, DON'T JUST CLEAR OUT YOUR JUNK DRAWER! And again, NO PLAIN POST IT NOTES, OR SOLID COLOR PAPER GOODS! Those are booooooring! lol

These flat whimsy swaps will be Newbie friendly! Newbies with 5 completed swaps along with 5 positive ratings are welcome for this swap! No swappers with recent 1s or 3s (within last 6 months) I'll be checking profiles prior to assigning partners! .

So that's it!

One SUPER NAKED envelope, size you would use for a letter or a card (or equivalent)

Filled loosely with tons of thoughtful and nice paper goods!

Seal the edges of the envie with tape so nothing falls out!

Don't forget to include a note with your swap handle and the name of the swap!

And send!

If I've missed anything, or if you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know!

I'm a bit confused. Does this mean that we can use any theme as long as the envelope is clear? The bottom of this description says Kawaii. Thank you for clarifying this. It sounds like a fun swap.

thebragal 06/15/2018 #

The table cover stuff is called vinyl. You can get it at any big fabric store. If you cover both sides in tissue paper you can see it with a sewing machine using a large needle. (Like one for jeans). Then tear away the tissue. Use a longer than usual stitch length.

can we put the clear envelope inside a bubble mailer or something? the idea of everyone being about to see what’s inside scares me!

Stuckinsideacloud 06/15/2018 #

@kraftylady777 yes, for the naked version the only thing we're theme-ing is the clear transparent envelope, anything inside is fair game as far as themes, and yes, I did note that you can use kawaii memos, sticker flakes, etc, as an example of what to stuff inside, but you can certainly use any other type of paper goodies, like little memos with flowers on them, little sticker flakes featuring birds, or food cut outs, etc. I do have another kawaii version of this swap that is entirely kawaii too ^_^

@thebragal thank you!! I couldn't think of what that material was called lol And that's a super handy tip! Appreciate it :)

@Jennahcook19 I know what you mean! But for this swap the purpose is to send your envie 'naked' so everything inside can be seen by the world! (And hopefully put a smile on the postal workers faces too, as I'm sure they don't often see nakie letters lol) Sorry about that! In the future my envie swaps are all clothed unless otherwise noted lol

PolkaDotty 06/16/2018 #

This is a really cool idea but I don't really collect stationary, stickers or washi tape. Does anyone have an idea for something similar but more substantial?

RooBaRoo 06/18/2018 #

I love this idea!! @PolkaDotty : more can be shaped paper clips (probably stationery, too!) Assortment of buttons, other flat trims, ribbons, laces (samples), shaped sequins, ATCs (PCs would probably be too large) Zines, bookmarks(probably stationery!), mail tags, paintbrushes, decorative chopsticks, fridge magnets, pot-pourri satchets ... too much experience in sending falt-only mail 😜

Stuckinsideacloud 06/25/2018 #

@PolkaDotty Yeah! Pretty much anything flat, bookmarks are a great suggestion, ribbons, sequins, are all great ideas @RooBaRoo I have it worked up to be a flat envie swap, so more along the lines of paper products or things you might stick into a smash book lol So I think chopsticks, magnets and satchets might be a little thick, but you're certainly welcome to do a larger clear envie that could accommodate thicker items if you'd like ^_^ The world is your oyster so there's tons of ways to get creative with this swap lol Just keep in mind your partner may send something that contains flat items only as that's all that's asked for the swap :)

RooBaRoo 06/27/2018 #

@stuckinsideacloud : Ha ha! I am not PLANNING on sending those ... but I HAVE sent them before 😉

I'm just loving this idea a lot, ☺

Stuckinsideacloud 06/28/2018 #

@RooBaRoo I'm glad you're enjoying the idea!! I really got a kick out of it myself lol ^_^

annedekker99 07/27/2018 #

Is there a minimum weight or something?

Stuckinsideacloud 07/30/2018 #

@Annedekker99 - No minimum weight in particular, as long as there's a good variety of different sized papery type goods inside, enough to make it look like a super flat snow globe! Then that's all that's necessary ^_^ The envies do not have to be stuffed like they ate as much as they could eat lol If anyone is struggling without a weight requirement I would say around the ounce mark would be more than fine, so a single stamp should suffice to send :) Great question though! I'll update the description to include this notation!

Stuckinsideacloud 07/30/2018 #

Just a couple more days until partners are assigned! ^_^

Reminder: Swappers new to Swap-Bot, please remember to read through the swap description listed above! Please have a well filled out profile, meaning more than a few sentences or just single paragraph! A good rule to go by, is, you should have to scroll down with your mouse to view your full profile! (So a few full paragraphs at least) Being willing to create a thoughtfully written profile lets other swappers know that you're sincerely interested and excited to create wonderful swaps and happy mail for others as much as receive swaps. A new swapper with a descriptive and engaging profile will let a swap's host know that this swapper is willing to put time and effort into their profile, which implies their willingness to put that same time and effort into the swaps that they participate in :) Think of it like a swap bot resume of sorts lol! Feel free to take a look at the profiles of other swappers for ideas on what to write about!

***As with all of the swaps I host, I will be checking profiles prior to assigning partners, and I will remove any participants who do not fit the requirements listed in the swap. ***

If you do not meet them at this time, I will continue to do these swaps in the future so please feel free to join the next one once you do :)

Happy swapping!! <3
