Ok, for this swap you will crochet, knit or sew (or if you are not crafty can buy from etsy or from somebody that can make them) Items to donate to Preemies. Preemies are babies that are born prematurely and the regular size hats, booties, etc. will be too big. They range from very little 1lb. or under to larger ones about 4 or 5lbs. Now I was a preemie born at 7 months in the time where babies were not expected to live or have a normal life. Well I fooled them, LOL! So you will make/buy at least one item and send to your local NICU. If you don't know where to send you can send to the Preemies of Carolina, which is my favorite to send to. You will take a photo before you send and e-mail to your swap partner. Any questions please ask:) I am giving plenty of time to create and send. You obviously don't need to have your partners name before you start. This is the address for the Preemies of The Carolinas. 2764 Pleasant Road #10803 Fort Mill, South Carolina 29708 If you want so info about them please check out their Facebook page or www.preemiesofthecarolinas.com. Oh well, I tried to put a photo of some outfits made but I couldn't do it.

Great swap idea! Half of my knits this year will be for charity, so I will definitely be joining later! :)

If you sew, keep in mind that traditional preemie patterns are usually too big. I made a Simplicity gown for my baby in the 5-7 lb size. He was a very average 7.5 lbs and it was enormous! I figured it would fit for only a few weeks but he could wear it until he was over 4 months and 16lbs! There was a 3-5 lb size which would probably have fit him perfectly. And there was no smaller size that would actually fit a preemie. I’d recommend looking for a pattern by an independent designer, maybe KwikSew? Or someone on Etsy?

You can try patterns for dolls. Or take the smallest pattern and re-size it. maybe scan it and resize on your pc or take it to someplace like staples that can do it. There are different size preemies, I was 2lbs,4oz. So I was teeny tiny, LOL!
