Description:

This is the 1st of a series of swaps that will be held every month. It is inspired by the sticker bag swaps I've seen lately.

REQUIREMENTS

For this swap we will each send two partners 1 new washi bag each. Since this is the first, You will have to

Make 2 small envelope/flat bags that each have the following, then send them to your partner:

  • A batch of senders choice washi samples (minimum 15" each) inside (you can either wrap the washi around a playing card or around pieces of anything plastic- which makes it easier to pick rather than having to unroll the whole sample of washi from the playing card)
  • An area for signatures and dates
  • A label with the rules of the bag (This is up to you, but an example is "Take 2 washi and add 4 new washi. No numbers or weekdays or planner washi. Sign and date this bag. Signer #5 send home.")
  • Depending on the rule of the bag there needs to be sufficient options to pick from. If rule says pick 2 the batch must have 4 washi samples, if pick 3 then 5 samples, if pick 4 then 6 samples and so on.
  • Behind the bag add your Swapbot Id, Name of swap and your postal address so that it can be sent to you when the time arrives

When you receive washi bags from your partner, follow the rules on the bag and wait for a future swap to assign you a partner.

You may include a small letter/note of introduction or a special flat surprise or gift for your partner but is not necessary.

RATING

Since this is a group swap, I'm hoping all participants will be considerate.

  • No one below a rating of 4.98.
  • No one with unresolved 1's and 3's in the last 6 months.
  • Please rate a 5 if you receive a washi bag with all the requirements mentioned above
  • Hearts are at your discretion. Don't rate a 3 if you dislike the washi from a particular bag

I will be checking every profile before assigning partners. Will ban at my own discretion.

NEW PROFILES/USERS If you have a completely blank profile with no info, ratings and swaps Please make sure you: have a minimum of 5 bolded sections filled out whether in bullet points or paragraphs if you have no ratings

PRECAUTIONS

Any one who is unsure if they can commit to future swaps in this series, please don't join. This is one that requires commitment and patience.

Hope this will be fun as we don't always like all the washi that we receive from others. This would be a good way to have it go around and let everyone pick what they like. This way you get washi samples of your choice and also a bag full of washi at the end (which has literally travelled far and wide)

I will happily angel this swap for anyone who got flaked on (although I'm hoping it won't be necessary).

  1. Contact your partner if you haven’t received anything after 3 weeks.
  2. If you can’t work things out with them, message me.
  3. After you rate them a 1 for noncompliance, I will send you the swap

Looking forward to some fun. Happy swapping. Please contact me for any queries :)

Hi! I love this idea! Just making sure I'm getting this right: how many washi samples is a "batch" and should be included in each envelope?

Phenyx 04/ 6/2019 #

@paperboats9 Thank you. I'm glad you do.

As mentioned, the rules of the bag depends on the sender. So for example if you say "take 2 and add 4 new" there needs to be atleast 4 washi samples in that batch to pick from.

All in all based on the rule you decide make sure there are a minimum of 2 more than that (as options) So if the rule says 'take 2' you make a batch of 4, if 'take 3' you make a batch of 5, if 'take 4' you make a batch of 6 and so on and so forth.

Love this idea, but with the swap being international it could take over a month before the sender receives.

Phenyx 04/ 8/2019 #

@bjansen Yeah, I know. Sadly that's something we'll have to deal with. On the brighter side let's look at it as we'll have many different options to explore from considering its international :)

Mamabemus 04/ 8/2019 #

can we send established bags?

Phenyx 04/ 9/2019 #

@Mamabemus I'm not quite sure I get what you mean. Do you mean your bag of washi that you've used for another swap before?

paperboats9 04/ 9/2019 #

@Phenyx Thank you for clarifying!! :) I'm excited to start swapping!

Dorkydactyl 04/11/2019 #

As for the Washi batches, as well as taking X (2) and leaving Y (4)-are the washi samples themselves to be all connected on one card? Or on seperate sliced sample rolls? For example; would that mean we would be starting a bag off and adding Y amount of full washi Cards (say, 4 full cards with 4 samples on each) or would it be 4 separate and independent washi samples?

Mamabemus 04/11/2019 #

@Phenyx Yes I mean bags I has been used for another swap. I swap many types of "bags" and I have some washi bags

Phenyx 04/14/2019 #

@Dorkydactyl So from what I read you sound like you have 2 doubts * 1. Considering the example you mentioned whether what counts as 4 (Answer: 4 individual washi samples would count as 4. The Y amount of washi is for the sample itself not for number of cards) * 2. Whether the samples are to be put on 1 card or kept separately. (Answer: that's up to you, you can include Y number of samples on 1 card or 2 cards or more. Although like I mentioned, it would be easier for everyone to pick 2 out of the 4 if they are rolled individually on separate plastic pieces )

Phenyx 04/14/2019 #

@Mamabemus Sure you can send bags used previously in another swap. Just ensure there's adequate space for the specified number of date and signatures you have included in your rule.

ContraryHousewife 04/18/2019 #

I might be interested, but I think 4.5 is way to low for this swap. You're opening the door to people who send late or don't send at all. http://www.swap-bot.com/forums/topic/127919 I don't want to be the 1 person in 8 who gets flaked on.

Phenyx 04/18/2019 #

@ContraryHousewife Thank you for bringing that to my notice, considering its the 1st swap I'm hosting. As of now I'm changing the rating requirement, as I can see all existing participants are at 5. After the deadline I will be checking profiles to understand if any flaking patterns exist.
