I love to read books for new regions. One of my favorite authors is Icelandic, for example. :) I thought we could try a regional recommendation swap, and maybe we can find some new authors to try out. Who's game?! :) This swap will be a type 2/flat mail swap, International, and you will have 1 partner. I will also start a thread in the forum, so if you want to add your recommendations for the whole group to read, you can look there too. For this swap, we will look at 1 region of the world per round and list the titles and authors of books we have read for that region that we recommend. These books can either be books you've read and enjoyed, or they can be books/authors on your To Be Read list that you are looking forward to. Books do not "have to" be printed in English, but please translate the title to English with the swap, and note if you know for sure that it is available in English. The books should either be SET IN the selected region or the AUTHOR can be from that region. For example, "Burial Rites" by Hannah Kent is SET in Iceland, but the author is from Australia. So this book could be listed for both Australia and Iceland. I hope to make this easier to find books - some areas are harder to find than others. Books can be any genre. In a note card or letter to your partner, list the swap name & your ID, and the region you are referring to. Then try to list at least 5 titles for that region. If it's a book you've read, you may include a summary of the book or what you liked about the book, but that is up to you. If you can't find 5 titles for the region, please just state that and try your best. You can certainly list more titles you recommend if you have more. The list of regions are:
Please refer to the picture for the swap or look at THIS MAP as this is what I'm referring to. You don't have to follow strict boundaries for this swap - just give it your best shot. If this is a popular swap series, maybe we can divide up the map even more for future rounds. :) As always if you have any questions or concerns, please PM me. And, if you are watching, but not yet signing up, please leave a comment below so I can see who is interesting in the swap. :) Thanks! |
