These paper scrap cards are a fun and easy way to help us use some of the many colorful paper scraps that we paper crafters all seem to have a ton of. I have so many paper scraps sorted by color, I could probably make cards for the world. LOL :) Here's what you'll do:
Tip: Self-adhesive labels cut down to card layer sizes work really well. It saves quite a bit of time not having to glue or add tape to each scrap. All you have to do is peel off the back of the label and lay the sticky side facing up. Add varying sized paper scraps to it, making sure each one butts up close to its neighbor. See my sample card above. Trim off any ends that overlap the edges. When it's all filled up, you can add additional layers as desired to hide any big gaps. When you're happy with it, then layer it onto a folded card. Keep an eye out for adhesive labels at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales, etc. In fact, I recently found a "great score" on these labels and would be happy to share some for the cost of one first class stamp (55 cents). I will pre-cut them to fit into a 5x7 envelope and then you can choose to cut them into whatever sized layers you want. This technique is fun for bookmarks too. P.S. Sorry for the long-winded instructions about the adhesive paper, but now you (and I) have it in case you want to save it for later. :) Lastly, once you try one you may just want to make a few more in different color combinations, etc. If folks like this swap, I can host more of them. |
