Description:

I created this swap last year and it was so much fun that we're doing it again. In this swap, you will make and send one Junker Jane style Paper Doll, to your one partner. Please make your paper doll at least 6 inches. Please incorporate recycled materials and stuff you already have on hand. Basically, you will make a Junker Jane style doll, and instead of sewing it and stuffing it, you will make it by adhering stuff to a sturdy base. Please use a sturdy base, like recycled food box, thick junk mail, etc. Then feel free to decorate, dress, and give character by glueing, sewing, adhering anything you want to make your creatures, use of paint, markers, washi tape, etc. Your doll can be animal, human, monster or any combination like a monster in a dress, etc. You do not need to include extra outfits. This does not need to be articulated, but you can if you like.

This is the closest example I could find.

Have fun. And, yes, this is International. You should be able to make these flat enough to mail in an envelope or in a card, without a customs form, for one International stamp of $1.15. But don't make it too bumpy or you will need to use a customs form, and of course, the thicker it is the more it will cost to mail.

I like this but I don’t know where to start. 😂😂😂

You'll be surprised how quickly recycling fabric, embellishments, paper, and buttons or yarn, etc can all lead to an adorable paper doll. Maybe pick a Junker Jane doll you like, and then be inspired by that one. For example, if you like a tall one, cut a tall shape, if you like colorful, add lots of color, if you prefer black and white, gather black and white stuff and just start glueing..... just let it organically take shape. Or maybe you prefer to sketch it out so you know exactly what you're doing, with the supplies you have on hand, ahead of time. Either way, it's up to you. Have fun There's also enough time that you could make your doll prior to signing up to make sure its a swap you want to be in. ;)

Awww! This sounds fun but I am like Patsy; I don't have a clue!

looks like a fun project. I joined, just want to clarify do we use only paper embellishments? Or can we use buttons or fabric?

Yes, in this craft you can use anything you like....something needs to be recycled but you decide what that is and how much. I'll probably make the entire doll using recycled items.

This sounds like so much fun. I am going to make a test run before I sign up.

Awesome!

@wolfeagle Do the clothes need to be removable like on regular paper dolls, or can they be permanently attached?

wolfeagle 08/18/2019 #

Permanently attached.
