First let me say that the fantastic idea for this swap is not mine, but @hyperoma who hosted it in May 2007. She appears as no longer active on Swap-bot so I could not resist hosting it again with some slight changes. This is my second time hosting this swap, I did so 10 years ago too. Seasoned swappers with rating 4.75 and above; no 1s or 3s in 2019 Newbies with full profile are very welcome! Instead of purchasing a language textbook and sending it to someone, YOU are going to teach your (2) partners some words and phrases in a foreign language. It's much cheaper and personal that way 🙂 For those who get partnered with someone who is a native speaker of the same language as theirs, teach them some of the basics of the language you are learning or WISH to learn. A few ideas on what to include! Greetings like 'hello', 'goodbye', 'my name is...' - Saying 'Sorry', 'Thank you', 'You're welcome', etc - Numbers – Colors - How to describe yourself (physically and personality) in a few sentences. Handwritten only please and feel free to decorate the pages (min. 2 pages, both sides of the sheets). Along with that please, send a small inexpensive item which has writing on the language taught OR that represents any of the countries where it is spoken. Sender’s choice so, for instance, you might wish to send a fridge magnet, a sticker sheet with the country’s flag on it, the local brand of chocolate etc. Make sure you check your partners’ profiles so that you do not send anything they are allergic to. Please add in the comments below the language which is your mother tongue and those you already can write/ speak fluently so that your partner is aware of your language skills and can teach you something different. Who knows? This swap could be the first step towards becoming fluent in a language you had never thought about! 🙂 I will check all profiles before assigning partners so needless to say NO flakers, drama llamas or non-raters are allowed in here. Rate a 5 if you receive a handwritten language lesson of min. 2 pages + a small item related to it. Please be patient if either of your partners lives in another country. It is called snail mail for a reason. Have fun! Europe only this time. I will be hosting the international version of this swap in early 2020.
