What an awesome idea for a dishcloth swap! I've got one going too now, using two colors. But I absolutely LOVE the idea of using scrap cotton bits!! I'm getting started on mine today!

Great Idea! I have lots of leftover cotton just waiting to used up.

If it had been international, I would have joined. :-P

Sorry it's not international, I just don't think international postage fits with the with the frugal theme, but feel free to start one up within your country, or internationally in you like.

Thank you so much for setting this up! I never know what to do with those little bits of leftover yarn.

when you use lots of little pieces, do you knot the ends or weave them all in? i love this idea but i'm not sure if i'd be doing it right?!

Molimo 02/ 2/2009 #

I weave them in, if I'm knitting stripes I just knit it along with the next row. If I'm crocheting I crochet over the ends on the next row. The last little bits I use a large eyed/blunt tipped darning needle.

Oh what I might send might be something I made with the last of the really big ball I bought so it might be all one color. I sometimes have enough to make a smaller cloth so I do that and end up with a one color cloth that is just small. Is that OK? I may just go ahead and find a crochet pattern to use where I can use a bit of one color at a time (I am just so tired of knitting the ballband). Anyone have a good crochet pattern to share that isn't a granny square?

Try http://www.lionbrand.com . You'll have to register (free), but then you can download a ton of free patterns. They have a lot of crocheted dishcloth/washcloth patterns.
