Description:

So I have another swap going just like this and it is for a later date. I started painting pennies for that swap and just kept painting! so, Here is a quickie painted penny swap. Same rules as the first swap, just quicker turn around. I love painted pennies and I love to paint pennies. I have a whole collection of them. They are small enough to keep in a jar so my collection doesn't take up a lot of room and I love how tiny the artwork is. Since you are probably at home with time on your hand, why not try something new!? Here is a challenge that no matter how great a painter you are, you can still do it! I just painted Covid 19 viruses on the back of 2020 pennies! choose a favorite subject and paint on the "tails" side of the penny. We want Lincoln to show and the date so don't paint on that side. I use regular acrylic paint and I sometimes need to paint two layers so that it isn't see thru. have some fun! Oil paint is also really great to use but takes longer to dry. Comic characters, landscapes, pet portrait, favorite flower, pokemon....you name it can be painted on the back of your penny.

  1. find a penny and paint on the back or "tale" side of the penny. it doesn't matter what year unless that is important to you.

  2. pick any subject you want to paint.

3 only paint on one side.

4 wrap your penny so that it doesn't get caught in the mail machine with some kind of card stock . I have actually found coin protectors that don't cost very much and am sending mine in those.

5 put one painted penny into an envelope and mail to your partner. (of course, if you want to send extra painted pennies that is up to you but only one is required for this swap.)

I always paint multiples of each penny I paint because I find that other people love them and ask me for one...they are really a lot of fun to collect!

Here are the important details. you must have a rating of 4.9 or higher. No ones or threes in the last six months. I will check profiles. Newbies are welcome since I don't mind angeling this swap. Hey, im staying at home with a lot of time on my hands!!! lol

If I use acrylic paint will it stick or is it better if I use some other type?

I used acrylic paint for the last swap...it stuck. I also protected with a layer of glossy mod podge. Hope that helps!

yes, acrylic paint works great. I always put a layer of white paint down first . it helps the colors stay true and stops the paint from rolling.the ones in the photo are all acrylic.
