How about a quick swap for our journals? I love having these little glassine bags on hand to add something to a journal that I don’t want to permanently attach, or just to send a little something in the mail to a friend. They are quick, easy and can be made from several materials. For this swap you will be sending one glassine bag to your partner for her journal. The size and style will be up to you, as will the items you decide to include. Inside could be any types of ephemera (such as stickers, tickets, printable, cut-outs) or a small craft item (such as a tag, ATC, journal card or cluster). Please include a cheery note along with the swap information. There are several materials you can make your faux glassine bags from: wax paper, tracing paper, vellum, parchment paper, greaseproof paper, even cereal bag liners. Below are three videos to give you ideas, you need not follow them explicitly. The size and style of your bag, wether you sew or glue, decorate or not, is completely up to you! THIS VIDEO shows the use of tea-dyed parchment paper and the construction is easy to follow. THIS VIDEO is rather long but shows exact measurements for an ATC sized bag made a few different ways. And finally, THIS VIDEO shows bags made with cereal liners. These are all just for inspiration, please feel free to use any materials and methods you choose. These are wonderful to have on hand for swaps, your own journals, even to help organize those little bits that like to wander. I hope you enjoy creating and gifting your partner with a little bag and surprise! |
