A massive thanks to fairyduster53 and her Christmas Treasures group for this fantastic idea, and for letting me steal it! In many of the Queen's portraits, and indeed many pictures of the Royal Women, they are often seen wearing a Royal Order Brooch. If you google these, many will come up, and they are beautiful! So, the idea is that we make a Christmas one for our partner! Basically, we will create the ribbon base and bow (for example you can fold a six inch piece of wide ribbon about 2 1/2” wide. Either stitch the end together or glue neatly and make a square approx 3” long. The stitched end will be to the back of the folded ribbon piece. A simple bow will then be added to the top of the 3” piece). Then we will create the brooch base (this can be a simple as cutting 3 oval or round pieces of card stock approx 1 3/4” long. Glue all three together to make a sturdy pin) and add a Christmas icon to it (think Father Christmas, Trees, Snowmen, Holly, Robins, Angels, Elves...). You could then edge the brooch with glitter glue or narrow lace, beads, you name it! Affix a pin back or safety pin to the back and pin it onto the ribbon piece. You will have ONE (1) partner and you will send them ONE (1) Royal Order Brooch! This is SENDERS CHOICE but it is always nice to pop to your partners profile to check that they don't hate holly, have a phobia of lace and are allergic to ribbon! Lets spread some Christmas Cheer. We could do a whole series of these if you like them...! No unexplained 1's or 3's please; I will be checking who is joining :-) |
