Please note I've updated this swap to make it US only given the timeline and to change it to Type 3 for a package. This swap will celebrate the Lunar New Year, also known to many as Chinese New Year. The holiday is more broadly known as the Lunar New Year since it is also celebrated in Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia, Tibet, Cambodia and other eastern asian countries. Please note that the Japanese do not celebrate this holiday for the most part. Every year has an animal theme, and 2021 is the Year of the Ox. The 2021 Lunar New Year celebration begins on New Year's Eve, February 11th, and goes to the Lantern Festival, February 26th. You can visit an Asian market or depending on your local situation, allow time to order online. Part of this swap will be about learning the meaning behind the holiday to inspire what you send. Common themes are red and gold and symbols of good luck such as flowers, certain animals or fruits. Red envelopes, coins and lanterns as well. Please include at least three items plus a short letter/note mentioning what you learned about the holiday. A little decoration on the envelope or package would be a nice extra but not required. Examples of swap items inspired by the Lunar New Year are below:
This is sender's choice, so that you have time to prepare your swap in advance, but please do keep your partner's profile in mind. Must have a 4.9 rating with no recent unexplained 1s or 3s. I will angel. Don’t forget to add the name of the swap and your name to the card/outside of the package. Happy swapping! |
