I guess I need clarification on something. I'm seeing that this is a "one for one" swap, but then you also say to put the poem on one or a series of ATCs. So are you just saying that we send as many ATCs as perhaps we need for the poem to our partner, but that one will do?

Would it be OK to put an excerpt from a poem on our ATC? Like if I want to send my partner an ATC inspired by Walt Whitman's Song of Myself, but that is a book-length poem, so really I would just be using a few lines in my ATC, would that be OK?

rehuxley 04/15/2007 #

Sharon,

Sorry about the confusion. The "one for one" refers to the numbers of partners you have. If you want to send more than one ATC to that one partner you are welcome to do so. You may get only one card in return. I am not controlling the amount of cards send or received, just the number of partners.

Oh yeah...it is fine to put an excerpt form a poem on your atc as well. The only limits here is your creativity!

Hello, My name is SharonF...I would like to do a atc...or maybe 3. Do I still have time in this swap?

Karenay 04/20/2007 #

I just signed up for this Swap-bot but, I'm totally fascinated!!! But, how do I start? Do I just look at the list and pick a partner?

Karenay 04/20/2007 #

Nevermind....I guess I should have read the FAQs first!

maepress77 04/23/2007 #

I have not seen my partner listed yet, getting worried. The deadlline is fast approaching! If someone wants to trade with me- I'll be happy to!

Artistic 04/23/2007 #

Looking for the partner's list. Anyone know the hostess? I e-mailed her yesterday but haven't heard back.

SharonP 04/23/2007 #

Our host is Ron, I don't know him, but he used his name in responding to questions, above; and I also e-mailed him yesterday and haven't received an answer. Maybe he's sick or something. I sent a message to Swap-bot admin earlier today to let them know we were still waiting for partners. It does say on the "Start a new swap" page that after 3 days Swap-bot will assign them, so it should happen soon anyway.

SharonP 04/23/2007 #

maepress, I too was thinking the deadline is fast approaching, but since I don't think we're expected to tailor our ATCs to our partner's profile, and the deadline is just when it should be sent by, not when it should be received by,it shouldn't be a problem. I went ahead and made my ATC and have it ready to go as soon as we get partners, which should be soon!

Artistic 04/23/2007 #

I didn't know the system would do it automatically after a certain period. That's good to know. Thanks, Sharon.

Cnvingltlbtch 04/24/2007 #

My cards are on the way.

SharonP 04/24/2007 #

And my cards on the way to Sarah in the UK (from the US).

rehuxley 04/24/2007 #

Hi all. Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Swap-bot usually forwards messages to me or lets me know I have them..but I didn't get any messages. It looks like questions got answered on who is your partner. Swap-bot does this automatically. Click the "see my partner" link to get a window with that persons name and address. email me at huxleyron@aol.com if there are any further problems or questions.

PJ, your cardinal poem is truely wonderful. Will you permit me to retype it here in the comments for all to enjoy?

PS. I almost didn't know what swap this was for. Remember to write your swap names on your ATCs and your envelope!

pjdoyle 04/28/2007 #

Glad you like the cardinal poem -- I hear him every morning this time of year! Sure feel free to upload it to share. Thanks for the tip of putting swap name on envelope -- I will remember next time!

I received a very nice original poem from Artistic, along with some thoughful extras. Thanks, Felicia!

I received this wonderful poem on PJ's ATC.

AMATEUR AUDUBON by PJ DOYLE (reprinted with permission from her)

I can't tell a gackle from a grouse don't know how high migrants fly, but I know Red's whistle. The cardinal in my yard, sings to his mate. I eavesdrop. I have no high-power telscope, no tripods, no binoculars. I arm myself with steaming tea and morning-slipper quiet, venture into April. Some relish the "quick, three-beers" of the olive-sided flycatcher; the "pleased-pleased-pleased- pleased-ta-meetcha" of the chestnut-sided Warbler; the "bubble-bubble-zeeee" of a brown-headed cowbird and mark their field trip finds in some Audubon-approved book. I am content, like Red's sweet bride, with the "wheet-wheet-wheet" greeting from our fella.

I received a 5-series set of ATCs from Amanda O to illustrate ee cummings poem, "Spring is like a perhaps hand" -- they are so beautifully crafted and the integrated images do "ee" proud! See the set uploaded in the gallery.

deedeenet 05/ 5/2007 #

There's an interesting biography on ee cummings by Christopher Sawyer-Laucanno.

joanandemma 05/ 9/2007 #

I have received the most amazing package from cnvingltlbtch today. A set of 18 ATC, each one with a line from a beautiful poem with an image to illustrate it.

cnvingltlbtch - I am totally floored at the amount of work you put into this!!! Your friends poem is lovely and your choice of photos is great! Thanks so much for the extra effort, worth many hearts! I feel so lucky to have these.

joanandemma 05/ 9/2007 #

I have uploaded some pics to the swap gallery and they are also on my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/gypsyrover2006/ if you'd like a closer view. :)
