Dear Ladies, Now that the seasons are changing and we pack away our heavy winter clothing, I thought perhaps we might treat ourselves to a new reticule to complete the seasonal transformation. For this swap, as with our work bag swap, we will make a reticule to keep for our own use, we shall send an image of our completed work to our partner as well as a lovely little note. Reticules are pretty little drawstring bags used to carry such items as our calling cards among other things. A more ornate or better quality of fabric was used to make them and they often had embroidery, lovely ribbons sewn in patterns, beaded designs or tassels in various places. I will grant an extra bit of time for this swap so that the perfect fabric may be procured as I know no one will want to settle for anything less than perfection in this. May I direct you to our own Variety shop in your pursuits of the necessary sewing notions? I am sure Mrs. Beecroft would be happy to assist and Mr. Whycliff in Bexford may be called upon as well. I am at your service for any queries you may have. Lady Elizabeth For this swap, we will be making a reticule for our own use so the size and shape will be up to your own needs/imagination. Please decorate it in keeping with our time period. For those of you who aren’t as skilled in sewing, crochet or knitted patterns may be used, you may also purchase a ready made drawstring bag and decorate it for this swap. Gluing on decorations is perfectly acceptable, as are embroidery, beads, lace edging or embellishments or adding ribbon flowers and patterns. The swap is open to everyone no matter your level of skill, the object is primarily to have fun. Once you have completed your reticule, send an image of it to your partner, include a short note, in character if you like, adding the name of the swap and your swap name.
