Description:

This swap is open only to residents of the Isle Of Swaps! You MUST have an official job there in order to participate.

Here is what the swap entails: You are to write a ghost story of a paranormal experience you have had on the island. It can have humor in it, but it should mostly be scary... the scarier, the better!

There is one catch... okay, TWO... the first one being that everyone's story MUST begin with the following paragraph; "It was a chilly night on the island. As I walked along the beach, the sound of windchimes and the darkening sky warned me that a strong storm was coming."

The second one being that you MUST incorporate your job on the island into the story somehow. I think this will definitely make it more interesting and allow for more inspiration. :)

The story should be at least 2 sheets of notebook paper, front and back for a total of 4 pages. (Of course, it can be longer if needed!)

This swap is international and open to newbies who have jobs at IOS. I will NOT be able to angel swaps for people who do not send, so PLEASE be fair. I don't think this should be a problem within this group. :)

I figured maybe once the swap is over, we could post the stories on the site if everyone wants to. :)

I hope everyone will have fun with this one. I know I am really excited about it! :D

Just a thought, but I think it would be cool to center the story around "what you do" in town.

pinkwhirlitop 04/13/2007 #

I love it! Maybe, MAYBE I can include the spa. :P

EXCELLENT Idea, fairykiss! I will go and edit it to include that right now! :D

Yay, I made it!

Now I have to formulate my ideas into something worthwhile. We'll see how long I end up going.

Ohhh this should be great, I love writing but I so often get stumped for ideas, I love exercises that give me a starting point and how I love a good spooky story :D (I think my profile makes that obvious) OoooOoohhhhHHHHhhhhHHHhhhhhh I hope to be able to give my partner one awesome story, but if it bombs out and fizzles into oblivion, please forgive me Hmmm... I sell plushies, perhaps they will be .... POSSESED!!!!!

pinkwhirlitop 04/15/2007 #

Sometimes restless spirits just need a soothing massage... BUT HOW!? :P

LOL! You girls rock! You all brought smiles to my face with your comments. :) :) :)

I cannot wait to see some of these stories! I hope everyone will post them... somewhere!

I LOVE a good ghost story and most of my books center around just that!

As for how to give a ghost a massage... that is something I have yet to figure out... my hands keep going right through them! ;P

It would be quite difficult to walk down the beach at night as I'm the lighthouse keeper but I'll try to think something up LOL! I had a good laugh reading your comments :-)

MrsQ 04/28/2007 #

Can I take the teensiest bit of creative license with the opening paragraph? As in, change "I walked..." to "she walked..."? (If not, that's OK - just thought I'd check....as an idea is incubating!)

4getmenot71 05/ 5/2007 #

That would be fine, Mrs. Q.! Sorry for taking so long to reply. I am on vacation in New York right now and do not have much online time. No problem with the change, though.

MrsQ 05/19/2007 #

serene-serenade - thanks! And no worries about the reply-time....hope it was a great trip!

Chrisondra 07/ 2/2007 #
