AUTUMN LEAVES At this time of year, we are surrounded with falling leaves from the trees, so make haste and gather as many interesting specimens as you wish and place into a heavy book to keep flattened for when you are ready to use. We shall be using what is called a Gelli Print method of gaining prints for our stash of papers. So if you have your own gelli plate and are well versed in how to use them, I will not go into the how to's here. If you have no idea what a gelli plate is, it is a manufactured printing plate that you DO NOT need in order to gain these kinds of prints. I have listed three alternatives here to watch and choose your preferred way. To begin prepare your table with a protective covering to keep paint off the surface. I particularly love the 2nd video way of simply using newspaper /butchers paper stack as her base, covered with a large plastic bag as her printing plate...so simple. I apologise that I have not the skill to get the youtube link in blue, but if you copy and paste the titles in your youtube search, it will bring them up. ONE. Gina Aherns Mono Printing Alternatives To The Gelli Plate TWO. Annemarie Ridderhof ( 1039 ) Gelli print without a gelli plate THREE. Nina Ribena Monoprinting Without A Gel Plate? Oh Yes! A Month Of Mixed Media Fun! THE SWAP: Creativity making leaf prints with paint and leaves, on pages with our Regency tones of coloured paints. Georgians used subtle to cheerfully natural hued or all the natural dye colour tones. The image shows Carmelite a natural brown dye. See the forum for a new topic on colours and not so dull as we thought! Gather up your papers, envelopes, tags etc and equipment and leaves, and choosing the way you prefer, create a selection of leaf prints and Ghost leaf prints, follow the directions on how to obtain ghost leaf prints in #3 Nina Ribena of the videos. (or in the way you are used to gaining leaf prints.) Try experimenting on dark and light papers. Try the reverse of envelopes, or front only, pretty papers for journal entries, letter writing etc. Have fun and creative joy. Select 4 of your most favourite of the printed leaves on envelope, pulled paper prints, tags etc. and send this selection in an EMAIL of photos to your partner. You will have one partner for this swap. Any further inquiries please feel free to ask one of us. Anna, Nickalli and Jane |
