Description:

Dear Ladies of Amberleigh,

It is with much pleasure that i wish to share with you a little delight to create for your favourite current book. A BOOK TASSEL.

When my Lord Joseph, Viscount Comely was recently in the royal households library - he noted in every book, bible and other great tome, a slender yet elegant tassel, hanging out of the base of each on the lecterns. He made inquiries and discovered some came from France, and some from Italy, and yet others from Turkey.
He brought me home one, and feel a keen sense to share it with you, so you may make yourselves one to share.

Will not you join me this week, and create some colourful elegance with beautiful strands or skeins dangling on a long cord or ribbon?

THE SWAP Directions: What you will need is shiny stranded silken threads these will be so elegant, or more subtler a full embroidery skein or two, or #8 or #12 crochet cottons... NB: wool & twine will be too thick- You will also need a long hanging fine cord made by yourself or a fine braid cord or ribbon to hang it from so it may extend beyond the book and elegantly dangle.
To start - cut a template of cardboard approximately 3inches long X 2 wide for you to hold it. Keep your tassel narrow yet full. Make your tassel along the length of the card, so it dangles beautifully when finished. It need not be overly thick, but try not to be too thin.

When you have finished wrapping, slide a needle with a large eye, with a long contrast pretty cord or ribbon, and tie around the very top tightly and securely perhaps stitching to properly secure.
Slip off the cardboard and carefully Cut through the TAIL base of the loop with sharp scissors.
Holding the tail firmly, carefully, wrap thread around the neck part of the head, so that your 'head' will look delicate. The hanger coming from the centre. Decorate as you see fit or leave as is. Remember though this is going in the mail, so keep it as soft as you can, and not too thick. Postage will soar otherwise.

Send to ONE partner in a Christmas or seasonal good will card, with a note from yourself within of which kind of book your character might use their tassel.

We surely hope you will join us in the making of your elegant book tassel.

Fondly,
Caroline, Elizabeth, and Leandrea

as always, do contact either of Anna, Jane or Nickalli with any queries, thank you.
