Thanks to Celery for this idea over in the group forum! So for this swap, we'll be making a small cross stitch or embroidery design for a partner--like perhaps one that fits in a 3-inch hoop. Keeping it small will make it a lot easier to commit to (and to ship!) but if you find a pattern you know your partner would love and it's a little larger, you can do that instead. Just know that only a teeny tiny one is required! As far as finishing, I'm going to say something controversial: don't worry about it for this swap! Introducing a hoop or frame into the packaging will seriously complicate matters and since we don't know how many of us will be interested yet, let's keep it simple and just mail that bare aida. :) Now, as far as theme: my suggestion is to try to wait to see your assigned partner's profile. However--I totally understand that you might want to start before partners are assigned and therefore it's not required to be profile-based. Basically, make a judgment call based on how quickly you can stitch. Please feel free to join even if you're new to cross stitch! This is the perfect time to learn. You can often find digital patterns on Etsy for $2 or less--maybe you can even find one from a Ukrainian seller! And if you have any questions about getting started (or about the swap, of course) I'm more than willing to help! And, as usual, I'll angel if needed. Don't forget to rate your partner and have fun! |
