After a long absence, I am back and trying to get my ratings up after flaking on 3 swaps. Many years ago, I had a solid 5 rating before I let real-life issues get in the way. 2 members are no longer active, but I did make up the swap for the third. Now that I am back, I find it hard to find swaps that I can join because of that lapse in judgment. So what's a crafty girl to do but create her own swaps? For my first swap. I thought I would start out with something easy for me to angel if necessary. Getting flaked on sucks, so while I will have this swap open 4.5 and above, I will be checking profiles and cutting anyone with recent 1's or 3's. If you are a newbie, a well-filled-out profile is necessary. So what is a zine? I just found out today thru a search for a private swap. It is usually an 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper folded and decorated to make a small booklet. Most are themed. It can be hand decorated or created on the PC and printed. You can even handcraft one, copy it, and then send the copy to keep the postage down. I went on youtube and searched and there are several great tutorials. Here are the 2 I found the most useful for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q3SS7cLl-Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKznMHrcPNU Be creative! You can use any medium, like collage, rubber stamping, digital, or even hand drawing. As for the theme, it is the sender's choice, but please be respectful and check your swap partner's profile, and do not send anything inappropriate. This swap is open to both inexperienced and experienced zine creators, so take that into consideration when rating. If you get a swap, RATE IT. I will angel if necessary, but please do not join if you do not plan to send. The postal service is slower in some places so give your partner at least 2 weeks after the deadline before notifying me. If you cannot send for any unforeseen circumstances, please contact me after you talk to your swap partner first. Most people are understanding if you just let them know what is going on. |
