Hey everyone! I don't at all claim to have made up this idea--I actually came across it via another swap, but I can't seem to find it and therefore can't credit the host... comment if you know, please! Credit also to @ensigncelery for inspiring me that much more with an example! But the idea is to make a grid collage on a postcard for one partner. What is a grid collage, you ask? It's like any other collage in terms of mixed media/mishmash of things that look cool next to each other, but it's laid out in a grid! Specifically, you'll be making little 1x1" squares of whatever you want (photos, paper, magazine cutouts, etc) and slappin' em all together in a neat grid. If you use a standard postcard (which I recommend), you'll need 24 squares to cover a postcard (because 4" tall and 6" wide... boy I hope I didn't do that math wrong). Go with whatever theme you want--just try to make it look nice. It can be 24 tiny chaotic photos or 24 tiny solid-color squares of paper or anywhere in between. The postcard should be sent written on and stamped unless your partner wants otherwise (please comment below if you want it sent in an envelope). Please also take care to seal this one somehow, whether it's packing tape or mod podge or whatever floats your boat. You don't want to lose pieces of your hard work in transit. Have fun experimenting and swapping! |
