Description:

One Pass-and-Paste postcard to one partner.

You can join in at any time by starting a Pass and Paste Postcard, or by sending on one that you have received from an earlier round, or another source.

Pass and Paste postcards are a fun form of collaborative Mail Art.

New participants

  • Cut postcard weight paper to postcard size

  • Divide the front side of the PC into 4 equal sections. (You can divide it into 3 equal parts if you prefer.)

  • Decorate section 1. The postcard may eventually be mailed naked so securely adhere items to your section.

  • Turn the PC over, and address the postcard to yourself.

  • Note: Do not include postage because the last person sending it home may not be from the same country as you!

  • Divide the other half of the back of the postcard into separate writing areas and label them the same as you did on the front 1-4. If you decorated section 1 on the front side...then you will write in section 1 on the backside. This is where you leave a your username, swap name, and anything else if there's room.

  • Sender's choice. Your section can be any theme and any medium (collage, draw, watercolor, mixed media, stamped, etc).

  • Mail the postcard, in an envelope, to your partner.

Established P&P PCs

  • Use the postcard you have received from another Pass & Paste round or another Pass & Paste swap.

  • If you have one that is divided into more than 4 sections, or irregular sections you can use it. (See examples of different styles in the link at the bottom of the page).

  • Decorate the next empty section and then put it in an envelope and send that PC forward in another P&P swap.

Finish

  • The goal is to have each space filled out by a different artist, and then sent home to the originator.

  • When you receive a postcard with only one empty square left, decorate it and mail it back naked. But if the finished PC is particularly fragile, lumpy, or things not adhered well, or wet weather is an issue, go ahead and send in a sleeve or envelope, though naked is preferred.

  • If you receive an unfinished Pass & Paste postcard please always send it on.

  • If you are assigned the creator as a partner, do not send them their uncompleted postcard. Start a new PC.

  • If you get assigned a partner and they have already worked on that PC, then hold it and send it in the next round to a different partner or please send it to me. Start a new PC.

  • If you have unfinished P&P postcards and decide not to swap P&Ps anymore, send it to the originator or you can send the postcard to me (P.O. Box 31013 Willowwest, Guelph, Ontario N1H 8K1 Canada) and I will keep it moving.
