Folklore of the Trees We started a new series swap this year. The focus is on the Trees of England. Each swap is focused on a different Tree and The Folklore of the Tree. (Information taken from www.discoverwildlife.com) We start you off with some basic information and once you are partnered you will send your partner something for their journal.
For our third swap we’ll focus on: Hazel (Corylus avellana) Hazelnuts were associated with knowledge and wisdom, with an ancient Celtic story telling of nine hazel trees that grew around a sacred pool. The nuts fell into the water and were eaten by salmon, who had the nuts’ wisdom bestowed upon them. The number of bright spots on the salmon was thought to indicate the number of hazelnuts they had eaten. Hope you’ll join us and please let us know if you have any questions! ~ Anna, Jane, & Nickalli |
