Dear Georgettes, SISTERS…….. the best thing in the world is to be loved by a sister or a friend who is just like one. They know when you need a hug, need to be left alone, cheer you up with a cup of something hot, a pretty cake, or open a bottle if it is even tide and sing into the night. Talk the legs off you, and open us up to laugh at our antics and at not to be so serious, and help us feel pretty, when we don’t recognise it in ourselves. We will celebrate the month of February as our St Valentines day, & make our Georgette sister a heart shaped ornament. So she can hang it on her mirror or somewhere that means she is precious to us. Everytime she looks at it, it will remind her she is special, well loved and that we care, in our land of Georgette's. Does that sound like a swap you would like to participate in? We would love to have as many of our members join in with us, to be our own Valentine Secret Sister. For this swap we shall make our sister a beautiful handmade FLAT paper HEART with a sturdy card back to fit in a standard envelope up to 6 inches long (or larger if that is your fancy) using your strengths of decoration so SENDERS CHOICE. Hearts are universal so you cannot really go astray here. It may be a Regency watercolour heart with a centre area with a special meaning for sisters, a printed poem on it, or roses etc. If collage is more your forte`, why not paper ephemera gracing its front with vintage old papers... lace or beribboned? If $ are an issue, keep it flat with no brads or ribbons. It then will only be a standard overseas stamp. What ever your delight in making, please add a hole up top, so your sister can add a ribbon to hang it for display. Summed up Send -** One Flat paper heart on cardstock, decorated as you wish, with a hole up top, a note from you to your partner.** Have you never hand written as a character before? Here let me give you an example of sending your characters voice to your partner... in this case it is Lady Caroline sending to Lady Elizabeth.... My dearest Eliza, How have you been during this stormy wet season? I understand Isabella contracted the common cold, pray that you safe from the virus. I do hope your family are all tucked away comfortably in front of the fire, out of harms way. I have made a little something for you my dear, that I hope brings a smile of fondness on any day that you are not feeling yourself. Please know you are ever in my thoughts, Your sister in friendship, Carrie I have set a short sign up for this swap, so you may start your planning & making as soon as you sign up, so that if you have a partner in a far away land, they will get your envelope by end of February. And add a pretty note perhaps in your chosen characters voice or your own, along with your gifted heart - your receiver will treasure and help her know she is special. Ensure your envelope/package is well secured and somewhere on the outside have a heart visible for the postman to share a smile. Please send something you are so proud of, and would love to receive in return, it takes a lot of gumption to put ourselves in a vulnerable creative position. Let us do our best work and in turn, be acknowledged for it.. Please rate kindly. If you have not swapped before in this group, we encourage you to share your address in our forum page for addresses. Your partner may wish to send you a personal thank you letter. This would be a precious response from our sisters. As usual if needed we are always here to answer queries, Anna Jane, Nickalli and Toni. |
