Description:

Have you ever written letters to a prisoner? Really? What the hell were you thinking? Anyway.

It is common for incarcerated individuals within the US to decorate, or pay another inmate to decorate, envelopes on outgoing mail. The art is typically in chicano style and has heavy inspiration from graffiti. It is always done on a plain white letter sized envelope and is usually in black and white with heavy shading. Look up "jail art USPS" on Google for some examples. You'll find a variety of styles, abilities, and ideas being expressed.

For this swap, you will create one "Jail-Style" envelope for your partner. That is, you will take one white all purpose envelope (the kind for boring stuff) and fully decorate the front and back. Because you are not incarcerated, you can use a lot of color and make the subject matter whatever you'd like. But you can only use pens, markers, and pencils. No tape, stickers, embellishments, gelli print, page about being a housewife written in Latin for some reason, etc. Just whatever you can do by hand.

This is open to interpretation. I want to be clear that it is ok if your art is very bad as long as you try. This is also a great opportunity to practice shading, or go through simple graffiti tutorials if you have not tried that style of hand lettering.

You have a month. Send on time. Don't think I need to say more than that because the implications should be enough (just kidding, just be polite and hmu for an angel if needed)

P.S. - short note inside with swap name and username. Try to represent yourself regardless of what your partner's likes and dislikes are. This isn't a wish fulfillment swap.
