Description:

Just to get our feet wet in our group and let everyone express themselves, I am pleased to annouce our first group swap is ANYTHING GOES! For this swap, you are going to create a paper doll out of collage. Your images can be combined in any way you wish. The doll can be male, female, child. It can be fantasy, Victorian, ethnic, whatever you want, but it must have a set of clothes that can be removed. Your doll can be made of animal parts, vegetables, sea creatures, whatever, as long as it is 1.) collaged, and 2.) has an outfit that can be removed. As far as size goes, it should be between 7 inches and 12 inches tall. Please be sure to mount any paper dolls you make on stiff cardstock or cardboard so they can be handled and displayed. I hope this is newbie-friendly and that everyone will have fun with this.
Here are some other points that might help you understand this swap: For "Farm Boy" the artist used seed catalog or gardening pictures cut up to create him. One would use a basic person shape on tag board or chipboard, then collage the features of the doll onto the shape. Then, because I think most dolls need to be interactive, you create another set of clothing the same way.
Another way top think of this is say, okay, I see ten different models in Vogue or Elle magazine. I'm going to take a piece from each of those ten models and create one doll out of them. The right arm comes from this person, the left arm from that one, the head from this one. . . Does that make more sense? If you have any questions, PM me or leave a post on the swap page. Let's get busy making people, people! NOTE: I did not make up this idea. I saw a doll made of collage on this website, and thought it was really cute! http://www.skyglass.com/gayle/farmboy.jpg

This sounds like a fun swap! It's on watch for now...trying to pace myself. Will be thinking of ideas in the meantime!
