Lots of Mail #5 - Cheap and Easy
Swap Coordinator:PostMuse (contact)
Swap categories: Challenges  Miscellaneous
Number of people in swap:31
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:June 21, 2007
Date items must be sent by:June 29, 2007
Number of swap partners:5
Description:

The original idea for swap was dreamed up by dreamhope and she hosted the first two, with resounding success. I hosted the 3rd round and had so much fun I decided to go for a 4th. And now we are onto round 5!

We all love getting a lot of mail, so this is a super-easy, super-cheap way to exchange lots of mail.

This is an international swap.

Guidelines: Each of your packages should be small and light enough to be sent by regular letter-post, but this is a goal, not a rule. It is important you don't assume your envelope will pass muster with one postage stamp, or that international mail will travel without a customs form. Please check your envelopes with your friendly neighborhood postal employee.

You will be sending one item to each of your 5 partners.

Choose one item from each of the following categories and pick one of your 5 partners to whom to send each item;

  • Something red
  • Something personalized (see first message in discussion thread)
  • Something wild
  • Something healthy
  • Something musical

The items can be found items, bought items, or things you already own, but should always be something you would like to receive yourself. Remember, keep it light and keep it simple! Examples of good items: a magazine or newspaper article, a cartoon, a postcard, a note card, a button or bead, a piece of fancy paper, stickers, stamps, a piece of ribbon or fabric, a tea bag, temporary tattoos, a bookmark, a charm, a quote or joke (something non-offensive, of course), a photo, an Artist Trading Card (ATC)...there are lots of possibilities! Please make sure you include both your username and real name, as well as a note about what category the item falls into.

Also, please try to post acknowledgment on the swap message thread below once you receive an item. It keeps anxiety tamed if senders know their envelopes have arrived.

When it comes time to rate, remember that this is low-expectation swap. Your partner is under no obligation to choose something that suits your profile. As long as you receive something that isn’t garbage with a note about what category it belongs to, your partner gets a 5. And please keep in mind that this is an international swap, so some things will take a longer time to arrive. Let's give each other a break and at least try the messaging system before giving out "1" ratings.

New swappers are welcome, but please read Swap-Bot’s FAQs and make sure you have a completed profile before joining. If you would like to read the threads for the previous rounds they are as follows; Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and Round 4.

So, about the personalized category. In round 4 I meant to create the personalized category but typed "personal" and then didn't catch the mistake until the swap had been up a couple of days. So, I just left it as is, and I am glad I did. It made for an interesting category :-)

I'm in! I'm in! Ha ha! For personal last time around, I sent a tiny crocheted brassiere, for when my partner needed a little extra personal support! hee hee!

PostMuse 05/18/2007 #

Oh how perfect, lulubird6!

This will be the last in the series, at least the last coordinated by me. I think it has run its course, but if someone wants to pick up the idea and run with it, I say go for it!

Oh, the gallery pictures can't be adjusted. I know the site administrators are working on making the gallery more user friendly, but it is a ways away. I like your selections for the swap, chappykat :-)

ninethreeo, Saor, lulubird6, and Toilet Roll Art, your packages are on thier way from Michigan. Bittercat, I forgot to put my "letter" in your envelope and yours will be going out tomorrow. I hope you enjoy them~!

Thanks PostMuse for the compliment. Being new here I spent time and lots of effort going over profiles to try and fit a catagory to each person. I also posted here what I sent to whom in hopes of helping to stave off one person receiving only one catagory of one of the somethings. So far I've rec'd two Reds, kinda full up in that catagory, hint hint!(lol)

lulubird6 07/10/2007 #

gatorsmom! that was an excellent package. the pill sorter is a HUGE hit in our household. My 4yo uses it to put all kinds of little things inside. I'm thinking of getting one of those huge month-sized ones to store little beads, embellishments, etc. awesome! and you were worried...

lulubird6 07/11/2007 #

saor, thanks for the bookmark and tea!

lulubird6 07/13/2007 #

ninethreeo, forgot to tell you, nosy dept of homeland security had poked into your envie and sealed it with their annoying green tape. Ha! to them for fondling my red knitted brooches of terror! Just kidding!

stummicakes 07/14/2007 #

lulu I found getting the cheap tackle boxes are the best for bead assortment. I have 3!
