Description:

This will be the first in a series of swaps. Calling all beginning quilters!!!!!! This swap is for those who are new to quilting and would like to swap blocks without the fear of being judged or fear of their blocks being deemed "unusable". Seasoned quilters are always welcomed. We have alot of wonderful seasoned seamstresses/quilters who would be a nice asset to this swap, however,if you are one of these ladies, please dont expect perfection,or even something you would put in a quilt(but hey, you may get lucky) You will swap two blocks with two partners. Here are the particulars:

YOur block must contain at least 5 pieces. You may choose any pattern, any style. For beginners i would recommend a simple nine patch or a friendship star design. Dont get overly ambitious, and try to tackle something you may not be quite ready for.....smiles

The blocks must measure in between 10 and 12.5 inches. This will give you alot of wiggle room to play with.If you are concerned about measurements, always aim a little bigger than normal the blocks are senders choice, however, please keep your swap partners color choices and preferences in mind when constructing something for them. You can list your preferences below. If you dont find the blocks you receive to be usable in a quilt, remember, they can always be used for something:covering a notebook, making a pillow, etc. Please make sure to send something you would like to receive.......no backwards pieces, etc. and remember, practice makes perfect, that is what this swap is all about............ Have fun :-)

YAY! I'm so happy to see this swap, and I think you did a great job writing the description for it, especially making sure that people know what to expect. Kudos to you!

I 'd like to join this swap, I never did something before with quilts, but I have a lot of fabric to make something beautiful, so this is a nice testimonial to me.... (and for my swap-partner....) but I've enough sewing-experience, so let's try!

I want to clarify, is it one block per partner for a total of two blocks, or two blocks per partner for a total of four blocks? Either way, this sounds so cool! I'm working on a red, black, and cream thing for the living room and a robin's egg blue and chocolate brown one for my bedroom. I'm still at the beginning on both, so this will give me the motivation I need to buckle down and get it done! : )

Are we just making the front piece of the block, or the entire thing with batting and finished edges? I'm still in, either way, it just occurred to me to ask before I go looking for fabric this weekend. : )

scrapkween 06/25/2009 #

Its just the front piece :-),however,if you weoul like to experioment with the batting you are more than welcome
